New Delhi, Jan 12: Bharatiya Janta Party on Thursday announced that it will field Sardar Rajender Mohan Cheema for Amritsar parliamentary bye-polls. The seat was vacated after Captain Amarinder Singh resigned prior to assembly elections in Punjab. He had defeated Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in general elections in 2014.

BJP also announced its list for upcoming Legislative Council elections in Uttar Pradesh. BJP announced the decision through its official Twitter handle. The party decided to field Arjun Pathak from Kanpur Graduates Constituency, Jaypal Singh Singh Vyast from Bareiley Moradabad Division Graduates and Devendra Pratap singh from Gorakhpur- Faizabad Division Graduates’ Constituency.

In an earlier development, BJP had announced its list for Upcoming Punjab and Goa Assembly elections. It has decided to field 23 candidates for Punjab Assembly elections while the rest of the seats will be contested by Akali Dal. The list comprises of 17 seats where 5 present MLAs have been fielded again in elections. It also released the list for 29 constituencies for Goa Assembly Elections. The names for rest of the constituencies will be announced later. Both states will go to polls on February 4. The list for elections as follows
