New Delhi, Oct 19: All the political parties have geared up and have begun hectic preparations for the upcoming Punjab elections 2017 which is due in less than a year. In a bid to establish their respective parties in the polls, all political parties are set to woo voters with their plans. To gauge the mood of voters and to understand towards which party their inclination is, media agencies have conducted surveys.

A survey conducted by Huffington Post India and CVoter has mentioned in its reports that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to gain majority in the state with 100 seats in the upcoming Punjab polls in 2017. AAP has, however triggered a massive interest among voters. “The AAP is expected to get anything between 94 and 100 seats in the 117-seat Punjab Legislative Assembly. It’s a sharp rise from the poll projection in 2015”, the report by Huffington Post India and CVoter stated.

Predicting Congress’s run in the upcoming polls, the survey report stated that Congress is in the second position but trailing by a long margin and is expected to win 8-14 seats in the Assembly, down from the 12-18 seats projected in 2015. The SAD-BJP alliance is a distant third with the party is unlikely to win more than 6-12 seats.(ALSO READ: Punjab Assembly Elections 2017 Opinion Poll Results: Congress-lead by Amarinder Singh to be biggest winner with 49-55 seats, says India Today-Axis poll)

Another similar survey conducted by VDPA Associates also came up with similar results. As per reports of opinion poll conducted by Elections.in, the agency has given mixed results and has posed the question whether the Aam Aadmi Party will win majority in Punjab Assembly Elections 2017. While 44% of the respondents said yes, 45% said that it will sit in opposition.

As per the survey reports, the Aam Aadmi Party is going to be a crucial contender in the upcoming polls and has indicated an emphatic win for the Party. In the last Assembly elections held in 2012, the SAD-BJP alliance won majority whereas now the party is facing the challenge of anti-incumbency. Apart from these parties, the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party are going to give a tough competition to the ruling alliance in Punjab.(ALSO READ: Assembly Elections 2017: List of candidates for Punjab polls not announced yet, says Amarinder Singh)

What should come as a surprise for many, the recently conducted opinion poll by HuffPost-CVoter has indicated an emphatic win for the Aam Admi Party (AAP) in the upcoming Punjab assembly elections in 2017. The AAP is expected to get anything between 94 and 100 seats in the 117-seat Punjab Legislative Assembly. It’s a sharp rise from the poll projection in 2015.

It becomes really difficult to predict the outcome of Punjab Assembly elections 2017 where the battle between the political parties is getting tougher as the election days are nearing. As per survey published by India Today-Axis Opinion Poll on 13 October, it has been reported that if elections were to be held in Punjab today, the Congress would win 49 to 55 seats and emerge as the single largest party in the state.  With a sample size of 6,552, the survey was conducted on the basis of one-on-one interviews and a set of questions covering all 117 constituencies of the state.

The report also mentioned that Congress tally would fall short of the majority mark in the 117-member state Assembly, because of which it may to go for an alliance with Navjot Singh Sidhu’s newly formed Aawaz-e-Punjab and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is predicted to be a close runner-up with 42 to 46 seats. Sidhu’s party might manage to get a few seats to reach the magic figure of 59 in order to form government in the state.
