Among the top stories for the evening , Bollywood actor Salman Khan today moved the Supreme Court of India for a hearing in the 2002 hit-and-run case him after the Maharashtra government’s plea against his acquittal. Salman Khan was acquitted by the Bombay High Court in December 2015 of all charges. The actor, who fought the case for 13 years, had been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder when the SUV he was travelling in mowed down five people on a pavement in Bandra, Mumbai, killing one. Announced: 20 Smart Cities of India
There was more good news from the Narendra Modi government. Venkaiah Naidu, Union Urban Development Minister today announced the list of 20 Indian small towns to be developed as smart cities. The future smart cities include Bhubaneswar, Pune, Jaipur, Surat, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Jabalpur, Vishakhapatnam and the cities under New Delhi Municipal Corproation.
