The Independent College Dublin Diploma in Business Studies with Intensive EFL Preparation ensures international students can gain any additional English Skills they need to enter onto an undergraduate degree programme. This course is designed to provide international students with the full range of academic knowledge and skills in specific modules, including international business communications, business management, marketing, accounting and economics.

English Language (Part 1)

The standard General English course covers all aspects of the language: grammar, vocabulary, reading,writing, listening and speaking. Great importance is placed on oral communication and materials are both relevant and stimulating. A comprehensive course programme has been designed   with students’ interests and needs in mind and weekly tests help learners to see their progress.  We encourage students to advance as much as possible in order to help them reach their objective. This course is 25 hours per week:  20 hours in the morning following a course book and 5 hours in the afternoon focusing on specific skills.

IELTS Exam Preparation (Part 2)

The IELTS exam preparation courses consists of 20 hours of General English + 10 hours per week of specific IELTS exam preparation. This course is suitable for students who have a minimum English language level of Upper-Intermediate (B2).

The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam, devised by the British Council and University of Cambridge, is a key exam for entry to undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in Ireland, the UK, Australia, Canada and the United States. The accepted IELTS band for entrance to universities is 6 and above (B2+). A four week preparation course is sufficient for most students who have a minimum English Language level of Upper-Intermediate (B2) to have a firm grasp of the techniques required for the IELTS exam.

ICM Diploma in Business Studies (Part 3)

Programme Objectives

To provide prospective business and management students with a body of knowledge which will:

a) increase their employment opportunities

b) prepare them for eventual supervisory and management careers in industry and commerce and

c) provide them with a qualification which will enable them to progress to higher level general management or specialised business programmes at a later stage in their business or academic careers.
