This is going to be the last travel diary for a while, as I’ve decided to stop doing them on a regular basis for 2014. They may pop up from time to time, when we have an especially exciting travel week, but otherwise, they won’t be a regular feature of the site anymore.
16th – 22nd December
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were all work, work, for both me and Zab, though Zab did go out to meet a former colleague in London on Wednesday.
We were reunited on Thursday when Zab came to Stanstead airport to pick me up after my flight from Linz, Austria.

On Friday, we worked in the morning, then went out to meet a friend in the late afternoon, hopping from a café, to a wine bar to a restaurant in Islington, where Zab showed us the place where his grandmother used to have a jewellery shop.
Saturday and Sunday were not terribly exciting, mostly just more work.
23rd – 29th December
In the afternoon on Monday, we went out to meet my former boss and her daughter from when I worked in Spain, and wandered around the National Portrait Gallery then had a light dinner. On Tuesday, Zab worked, and I helped his mother tidy the house in preparation for Christmas, which, on Wednesday, was perfectly pleasant.
Thursday was a travel day, as we spent much more time than really necessary waiting at City Airport to collect a car we’d hired, then drove to my mother’s new house in Cirencester.

Friday morning was spent cooking and preparing for lunch, which was attended by my grandmother, grandfather and aunt, along with Zab, my brother and my mother’s husband who were already present.

On Saturday, Zab, my mother and I hung out in Cirencester’s very picturesque old town, doing chores and having coffee. In the afternoon, we visited Westonbirt Arboretum and walked around looking at trees. Sunday was another travel day, as we drove to southwest Wales to visit my aunt, her husband and my cousins.
