Defining Success is a very personal thing.
What is Your Definition of Success?
I have my own definition of success, and what I consider to be progress. One thing I can honestly say is that I am not looking for massive and instant cash results at this stage, although obviously when big sales happen I am hugely delighted and usually re-invest the cash instantly.
No. My immediate goals are more to do with understanding how this business works, and working to discover how to create and promote my own products and build my own funnel. Ultimately to have a sustainable business of my own.
I also absolutely love helping people where I am able, and showing them what I am doing to get results. It is a very inspiring thing to do, especially when they then act on your advice and it works for them – sometimes better for them than for you. (Roger!)
These basic principles of marketing are what we are all learning and trying to become experts in.
We are working on how to drive better targeted traffic to a high converting sales funnel already set up by Dean Holland.
Some of us have decided to build our own list, and to send our own offers and products to this list. We then convert these leads into high-quality buyer traffic before we send them on to Dean’s funnel. Or maybe to other offers of our own or other people.
In order to do this I personally decided to employ the Done For You Email Package (I’ll refer to it as DFY from now on…) from Internet Profits. This is a powerful tool which contains a free front-end high value product (6 tutorial videos) and a series of 29 professionally-written emails designed to be sent out to leads over a 55-day period to promote the offer.
These emails benefit from being personalised to including a template signature. You can easily design one in your Auto-Responder… here’s mine… I saved it as a ‘snippet’ so that I can insert in to any email or page I want. This was something I decided to do for branding purposes but it not really necessary. The emails are then uploaded to your Auto Responder.

The 6 videos are then uploaded to a hoster.
I soon realised that the videos needed to be saved individually on a plain page, rather than on a blog page with a side bar and other distractions. So I did this.
Another important point is not to give each video a predictive name such as ‘video 1′, ‘video 2′ etc. This will allow people to find your video pages without looking at your emails. So I gave each video a random name which made no sense and could not be cracked.
The links for each video were embedded into the emails. Under each free video is a Call To Action – ‘Check out the Big Commission Blueprint Video’.
I am now working on the most challenging part which is designing the most effective high-converting squeeze pages to get the emails opened, and get people to my list…
One vital piece of software needed for this is a great link-tracker, so that I am able to monitor every opt-in and see what they do, where they come from and much more besides. This information is the basis for decisions I make about what to do next. It is an endless and ongoing process of trial and tweak – with errors all along the way.

Next comes the regular personal contact with my list – sending them my latest blog post and reminding them how the Big Commission Blueprint will help them forward to their own success. Calling them to action.
So How am I doing? Some Results so far…
The initial set-up phase of the DFY took me a concentrated 16-hour session of non-stop computing. I love to push things through to the end result without stopping, and then wallow in a euphoric mist of self-congratulation. Some people pace themselves better than me! Then came the moment when I summoned up the courage to send my first Solo Ad to my own funnel Scarey!
I sent out 300 clicks to a really hideous squeeze page I had designed, and which gave me 20% opt in and no sales whatsoever.
I soon realised that as I am sending a free 4-part video which takes 6 days to deliver, most people are probably not going to purchase Big Commission Blueprint immediately, but will wait until they have seen all the FREE stuff first!
Sure enough – exactly SIX days later I got my first EVER personally-generated BCB sale using my own funnel and my own squeeze page!!
That was a VERY SPECIAL MOMENT.
My 300 clicks cost me $132. From the BCB sale I also got an Affiliate Membership who has so far stayed on for 3 months. Then I got another BCB – so the ROI on that first solo in to my own funnel was $17.96 plus $42.30 (x 3) and then another $17.96 = $162.82.
The next BCB sale came from another even tackier squeeze page than the first one. – this time on my blog side bar. This one bought BCB, Affiliate Club and the Automated Income Seminar. Commission = $237.56. And that one was free! I have paid for my Auto-Responder, My Link Tracking Software and my Solo Ads every month from Residual Income.
THAT’S Success to me…
Now I am working hard to design good copy and great squeeze pages to improve these results. My squeeze page now converts at about 30% – which is an improvement. I still send an occasional solo ads straight to Dean’s BCB offer which still converts better than all my pages at around 44%.
What I am doing now is to start tweaking the emails, shortening them and trying to improve the titles of each one to increase the open rate. As well as this I am working on my own funnel in a brand new niche which I am researching at the moment.
This funnel will be designed around Dean’s model and incorporate a great free offer, a series of upsells which I have already done, a repeat membership product exactly the same price as the Affiliate Club, and two High-ticket products – one of $1997 the other possibly $2997.
I asked a few top marketers in iPro if they thought I should launch this with just the front-end and upsell in place, or wait until the whole thing was ready and guess what?
Even the experts don’t agree. One respected marketer said just get the funnel and first 2 products in place and see, another said don’t move until it’s all working perfectly. With regards to sharing what I am doing in the background. I can only say to you that if I was to tell you my niche, my products and my vision at this point – some clever marketer with more DEV money than me would set it all up and kill it stone dead.
My project would never happen.
