Many thanks to all of you pet parents who entered pictures of your beautiful pooches enjoying pools, ponds, lakes, oceans and more in our i Love Water Dogs photo contest for the month of July.

“I loved seeing the photos submitted for this contest,” said contest judge Greg Kleva. “I was most impressed and pleased to see how many people practiced good water safety and who used life jackets for their dogs while enjoying their favorite water activities.”

As always, much gratitude to our panel of dog-expert judges – Kleva, Dr. Patrick Mahaney and Nikki Moustaki – whose task of choosing the winners is always “ruff.” And thanks to all of our Facebook followers who voted for their favorite photos.

Without further pawdo, congratulations to first-place winners Dudley, Elastic and Quincy. And paws up to Granite and Finn, who win the honorable mention prize for getting the most “Like” votes in our Facebook album!

First Place (Tie): Dudley

Dudley, a 22-month-old Great Dane who was contest judge Patrick Mahaney’s first-place choice, “makes me laugh every day!” said his pet parent, Sandy Smith.

“When he is not leaping in the air (he is determined that one day he will fly), he loves swimming most of all and sitting in my lap. He figures his 6-pound dog brother can sleep in my bed and sit on my lap, and fair is fair!”

Dudley lives in Calgary, Alberta, with Smith and his two other rescue brothers, Spencer and Radish.

First Place (Tie): Elastic

“Elastic is so committed to his love of water, he will squeeze his Boxer body into a Yorkie-sized pool!” said contest judge Moustaki of her first-place choice.

Three-year-old Elastic was rescued by Austin Boxer Rescue and is looking for a forever home. “It doesn’t take much to make him happy, as you can see,” said Carrie Collins.

“Boxers aren’t typically water dogs, but Elastic is showing that his personality is as flexible as his name,” Moustaki added.

First Place (Tie): Quincy

Quincy, a 14-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever, “was a rescue. His favorite pastime was diving for his toy at the bottom of the pool,” said the Southern California Animal Rescue. “We regularly participate in dock diving and Quincy was always one of the spectators’ favorites because of his unique talent. ”

“Not all dogs take to water or to swimming very easily – even those whose breeds were developed to love the water,” said contest judge Kleva of his choice for first place.

“I really like a dog that is comfortable enough to jump right in and go for a swim. Quincy takes that even a step further with his underwater diving ability! Although we can’t see what I’m certain is Quincy’s handsome face, I love the perspective of his tail and back legs in this picture.”

Quincy crossed the Rainbow Bridge in late July.

Honorable Mention: Granite and Finn

“What I love about these guys is not only do they make me smile 1,000 times a day, but they are such good sports when it comes to photo time,” Christine Kozanda said of her two German Shepherds. Granite is 12 years old and Finn is 3.

Congratulations to all of our winners! Dudley, Elastic and Southern California Animal Rescue (on behalf of Quincy) will receive a month’s supply of i Love Dogs Reishi with Green Tea supplements, which naturally help keep dogs free of summer-spoiling parasite infections caused by fleas, ticks and other troublemakers. Their pet parents will also receive a coupon good for a 50-percent discount on their next purchase of i Love Dogs vitamins and supplements.

As the honorable mention winners, Granite and Finn win a goodie bag stuffed with pawesome i Love Dog treats.
