Expo Milano 2015, themed “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” is the Universal Exhibition that Milan, Italy, will host from May 1 to October 31, 2015 (ww.expo2015.org/en). Over this six-month period, Milan will become a global showcase where more than 140 participating countries will show the best of their technology that offers a concrete answer to a vital need: being able to guarantee healthy, safe and sufficient food for everyone, while respecting the Planet and its equilibrium. The Expo expects to welcome over 20 million visitors to its 1.1 million square meters of exhibition area.

Arthur Furia Shutts & Bowen Partner in Corporate/International Business practice resident in Miami office and Antonello Corrado, Senior Partner of EXP Legal – Rome and Milan, are engaged again in the continuous collaboration between the two ILN Member firms, for the implementation of bilateral business opportunities between Florida and Italy.

The new opportunity is their co-organization, together with Gambero Rosso Foundation, NIAF, Swire Properties, and the Beacon Council, of the March 12 Global Miami Health, Nutrition Conference, celebrating the United States’ support and participation in the 2015 World’s Fair.

Perfectly tuned with the Milan EXPO 2015 theme, Miami-Dade College will host a day-long forum to explore America’s relationship with the “Old World”, and how the food, health and identity of people on both sides of the Atlantic have and continue to evolve in a parallel yet inseparable process. Shared modern day concerns faced by our society and their interrelationship with nutrition and sustainable development will guide the discussions and attempt to shed light in long-term solutions.

Arthur Furia’s and Antonello Corrado’s aim is to contribute – thanks to the esteem they are granted in the respective countries and their long lasting involvement in the cross border relationship between Florida and Italy -, to the success of the Conference that, focusing on the theme of the Milan EXPO 2015, will gather for one day, in the same venue, outstanding representatives of the two countries and cultures.

A panel of Italian and American health experts, ranging from Dr. Camillo Ricordi, Member, Advisory Board of Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition, Dr. Michael Pacin, Founder, Florida Center for Allergy & Asthma Care; Dr. Paolo Romanelli, Dr. Robert Kirsner, Dr. Antonella Tosti – University of Miami Medical School will discuss the complex topic and confront current social beliefs related to food and well-being.

A panel of food experts explore the health and nutritional aspects of Old World cuisine from the

Mediterranean and discuss how age-old ingredients, techniques and flavors can be incorporated into modern American cuisine for a healthier society. The Panel, will be chaired by the Moderator Michele Gillen, Chief Investigative Reporter CBS4 and composed of Lidia Bastianich, American celebrity chef, television host, author and restaurateur, Paolo Cuccia, President/CEO Gambero Rosso Foundation (www.gamberorosso.it), Mitchell Davis, Chief Creative Officer, James Beard Foundation, Nancy Stetson, U.S. Secretary of State’s Special Representative for Global Food Programs.

Nutrition of the Planet, health and quality of food is a cultural and political meeting point opportunity for America, a melting pot of cultures, each with its own nutrition and culinary heritage and the Old World, that  built the foundation of quality nutrition, to discuss the topic from two different, but largely converging points of view.

The quality of the debate is guaranteed by the presence of outstanding guest in representation of the two countries, such as Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero, Ambassador of Italy to the United States, Ambassador Philip T.
