After the release of the  OS X Maverick operating system this Fall Mac users will have access to Safari 7.0  web-browser notifications, even if the entire application is closed, said MacRumors.

According to the report, the number of supported notifications include weather, news, sports scores, e-mails and others. In the pre-OS X System Preferences will need to include the appropriate function, both the iPhone and iPad.

“Web notifications look and work like any other notification alert. Their appearance can be customized by the user in System Preferences to show up as a temporary banner that vanishes on its own, or an alert that must be clicked to dismiss.

Web notifications will work with “Do Not Disturb”, which first appeared in iOS 6, and then in OS X. In this mode, the system ceases to display a pop-up information banners Notification Center. With the advent of OS X Mavericks function “Display reminders and banners” became known as the “Do Not Disturb”. The switch is at the top of the Notification Center.
