Details

Just Helping My Dad with the spirited and lovable Little Critter will you make you cringe/smile and the kids giggle. Little Critter tries to help his Dad do chores, but instead seems to create more work for him.

The day is off to a ominous start when Little Critter makes breakfast for his Dad, but also manages to create a hugh mess in the kitchen. Little Critter washes the car without closing the windows and the lawn mower gets away and crashes through the flower bed. Little Critter tries his best, but his best seems to create extra work for his Dad. As his Dad tucks him into bed Little Critter sleepily asks if he helped out. His Dad’s heartwarming “yes” and “thank you” brings to mind that it is the thought that counts.

There is a Read To Me narrated mode where words are highlighted as they are spoken. In Read it Myself mode independent readers can read at their own pace. In addition, there is an option to make your own narration which can also be shared. In all modes, words are spoken when tapped and the whole page can be repeated or narrated by double tapping. When tapping on the pictures the associated words will zoom up.

Kids will have fun finding the little mouse and spider that is part of the artwork throughout the story.

There are external links, but most are made less accessible by requiring two finger swiping in a requested direction.

What Elena Liked

The graphics and sounds are very well done. The controls are very easy and intuitive to use. The page index is very useful for jumping to favorite pages.

The story is one that all parents can relate to. I know my toddler has tried to “help” mommy with certain tasks with hilarious results that definitely created more work for me. However, I’m truly very proud that my toddler is trying to be helpful and is learning to do things on her own.

My toddler loves to find the mouse and spider. She is quite good at this bonus activity.

Overall

A funny relatable story that is enjoyable to kids and adults. Kids of all ages will love the mishaps that Little Critter gets into.
