P is for pinning!

Ok, if you haven't seen the website Pinterest yet, you're totally missing out.  One of the fastest growing new social media websites, Pinterest is the concept that allows you to organize and share all those clever ideas/thoughts/pictures that you stumble across online.  Folks use pinboards to plan weddings, decorate their spaces, design workout plans and even create their own "virtual" cookbooks.  If it's online, you can pin it!

Launched in 2010, it didn't take long before Pinterest made a splash!  In January 2012, the site reported 11.7 million unique users, making it the fastest site in history to break through the 10 million unique visitor mark!

As you can imagine, Pinterest is right up Heather's alley.  Between blogs and baby, she barely has time to create her boards anymore!  But when the "It's Craft Time at the Looney Bin" feeling strikes, it's a sure bet that the inspiration is from a Pinterest board.

While we were waiting for Chickadee to make his big arrival, he just kept growing and growing...making Jack Heather be less nimble and less quick.  Heather was so less nimble that she really couldn't get into bed with out a helping hand, or in this case step.  Brett's grandfather happily made a small step stool from scrap lumber he had so his granddaughter-in-law didn't have to get a running start to long jump to dreamland.

One night while trolling Pinterest, Heather stumbled across this pin (on left) and clicked on it.  The picture led to the Brown Paper Packages blog with a great write up on how one mother redecorated a plain footstool into a cherished family footprint memory....and it sparked an idea!

Our plain-Jane footstool got a makeover with the perfect touch of memory!  Check it out:

We figured when we were old & senile we may not remember whose footprint was whose so Heather used die cut letters for the names and added the date.

A little left over scrapbook paper dressed up the legs and with a couple of coats of Modge Podge, our little footstool was suddenly fancy!

Ok, now back to Pinterest to see what other great ideas are out there!
