**Job Summary:**

The Principal Systems Engineer takes architectural specifications and creates cost effective, high quality solutions to operate the business\. Improves infrastructure, process and toolset by engaging with other IT project professionals to eliminate barriers and direct IT toward best practice\. Participates in complex projects of long duration providing execution\. Provides analysis, design consultation and evaluation for technical or infrastructure projects\. Manages deliverables creating detailed architecture for technical solutions and providing accurate estimates for building components\. Defines technical solutions against business requirements\. Understands and implements business requirements and detailed designs\. Participates in the evaluation of new technologies, and new feature sets of existing technologies\. Maintains and Shares knowledge with the team in both formal and informal settings\. Troubleshoots production and non\-production issues utilizing the appropriate tools\.

Developing solutions will require applicants to have excellent scripting and automation skills to develop solutions for enterprise\-specific solutions\.

The Principal Systems Engineer will work effectively as a team member and must have strong verbal and written communication skills\.

**As a Principal Systems Engineer:**

+ Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks\.
+ Lead technology troubleshooting for incidents and problems involving infrastructure\. Coordinate with internal resources and managed service providers to return to service as well as identify long\-term remediation plans
+ Lead and/or provide support for a variety of project related activities across multiple business units
+ Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
+ Install, configure and manage VMware virtualization environment components \(Traditional and hyper\-converged\)
+ Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures and standards
+ Install and maintain system and security patches\.
+ Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced members of the team
+ Aware of emerging technologies and key vendor solutions and roadmaps in the relevant IT domain
+ Support off\-hour and on\-call activities
+ Ability to work in a DevOps model

**Requirements** :

+ B\.S\. in Computer Science or a related technical field
+ Minimum of 10 years of experience in system administration

**Experience** :

+ Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows Products and Technologies, Microsoft Server/Application Products and Technologies, VMWare Products and Technologies
+ Minimum 2 years of experience with Red Hat, CentOS and Chef
+ Ability to create new and modify existing recipes and cookbooks
+ Familiarity with ELK and LAMP stacks, as well as Cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure
+ Working knowledge of scripting technologies such as Ruby and BASH
+ Knowledge of Jenkins
+ Knowledge of EMC storage arrays \(Clariion and VNX\)
