iGEM 2014 Sponsorship & Exhibition Opportunities

Since it's inception, iGEM has become the premier annual event in the Synthetic Biology calendar. During iGEM 2013, over 3500 students, instructors and participants signed up and contributed on our collection of websites and wikis. We had teams competing from 35 countries, including Nepal, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Brazil, Chile, the US, Canada as well as many European nations such as France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, and the UK.

Our iGEM teams designed, built, tested and in many cases, demonstrated functionality in novel biological systems using standard, interchangeable parts called BioBricks. The opportunity for undergraduates and especially high-schoolers to conduct their own cutting-edge self-driven research from such an early point the their careers is vertually unparallelled in biological science. This experience will undoubtedly affect future career decisions and has been known to influence young iGEMers to choose a path in synbio.

During the year, teams travelled to regional Jamborees to present their designs and systems to an audience of judges and their peers. The best teams in the Collegiate Division teams advanced to the World Championship Jamboree at MIT last November. The accomplishments of these student teams during one summer are often impressive and demonstrate potential that could lead to important advances in medicine, energy, environmental sciences and in our other 12 subject areas.

Our iGEM 2014 Giant Jamboree will be the largest annual gathering of synthetic biologists worldwide. We
are
already expecting a lot
of
media coverage and press at this year's Jamboree. Sponsorship of our organization or our Jamboree is a significant opportunity
for
your organization to reach out to some of the brightest young minds in this rapidly growing and increasingly important new field.
