With the new iOS on the horizon, many rumors suggest the fact that hackers might release an iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak any time now. According to the latest claims, the possibility for iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak to be released is imminent.

When the Evaders team offered the possibility to perform an untethered jailbreak on all iOS device up and including iOS 6.1.x, critics stated that a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 would be impossible. At that time, hackers confessed that several exploits would not be used. Instead, they will be saved for the more pressing issue of iOS 7.

The first one who announced an iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak was UnthereadedJB. A while ago, he released an obscure iOS 6.1 jailbreak for CDMA enable iPhone 4’s. However, all those claims and rumors were not exemplified or cleared, in a way or another. Therefore, the rumor failed to take form.

Now, according to @winocm’s tweet, the grounds for an iOS 6.1.3 untethered jailbreak are settled. While he suggests that it still “needs some more work”, this is probably the closest thing users have related to iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak.

Apparently, he noted that he has a binary that untethers 6.1.3, but still needs some extra work. However, at this point, it seems that this jailbreak is only applicable to the A4-based devices. For those who own such devices and are eager to find a jailbreak solution for their iOS 6.1.3-stuck devices, this is more than enough.

Hacker Winocm tweeted “Before you all go and think I’m magically supporting all devices, the iPhone 4 GSM version barely works. And it’s the only one I made.” In the same time, it is necessary to note that this future untethered jailbreak is not applicable to iOS 7 betas: @Winocm: It’s not useful on iOS 7. I don’t care about iOS 7. Other people are taking care of iOS 7.

With iOS 7 right around the corner, the jailbreak community focused its attention towards the new firmware to be released by Apple at the beginning of September. In the same time, jailbreakers all over the world might have to wait a bit longer than expected for the next iOS jailbreak since Apple increased its security checks against known exploits in newer devices, and the well-awaited iOS 7, which contains bug fixes for known exploits.
