It’s time you embrace your inner señorita and rock the Spanish-influence trend that was all over the catwalk for spring/ summer 2016.

Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra, Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors and Temperley London showed collections that had heaps of Spanish influence. Models were entangled by garments of delicate fabrics, intricate embroideries, rich prints and overall silhouettes that were so romantic. The looks evoked a delicate femininity with huge ruffles and woven lace. Beautiful golden skin against vibrant reds and whites created a Mediterranean vibe that transported audiences to the sunny south of Europe.

It’s now an easy trend to achieve with aspects of Mediterranean fashion being in every shop. Flamenco ruffles, off-the-shoulder necklines, bold colors and silhouettes will transport you to Spain this summer. Seriously, how fun is this trend? You’ll feel like dancing all night in an open air bar while sipping mojitos.

You need to think about what glamorous Spanish women would spend their day wearing on a yacht in Puerto Buenos or when they eat delicate tapas and sip sangria in Barcelona. These women would look glamorous, elegant and bold no matter the time of day. Every part of their outfits would be well thought through as image is everything in Europe. At night imagine what these busy women would wear to an ancient vineyard or a steamy salsa class. You’ll be so into this trend that you’ll be saying ‘Hola’ and listening to Enrique Iglesias Spanish Album.

During the day isn’t just about Spanish influence, it’s Mexican too. Anything with a latino influence is perfect. This means bold, vibrant prints in various colors. One key pattern is flowers, it reminds every one of the exotic plants that grow over white-washed villas. For shoes, think woven espadrilles. The neutral colors and woven platforms resemble soft beaches and handmade craft stalls that line tourist spots. Crochet pieces, especially matching co-ords, scream Spanish sun. However, crochet detailing can easily be added to an outfit through adorable clutches or bucket bags. One of the easiest ways to follow the Spanish trend is by wearing a maxi dress, preferably in silk, in a delicate light floral pattern or bold red.

For a nighttime Spanish-influenced look, think sexy lace and off the shoulder dresses. Sex appeal is the key to night time looks. Dresses should be simplistic and almost mimic lingerie as the hot weather wants for minimal clothing and to show off that tan. Unlike the day, detailing isn’t in the clothing, it’s in the accessories. Heels should be a statement as should the jewelry. Take influences from Spanish Flamenco dancers who weren’t afraid to decorate their hair with flowers or elegant accessories. Colors should be focused around bold reds, oranges and black or whites. Don’t forget to wear a bold lip with some dramatic fake lashes and well-defined liquid liner to create a striking makeup look.

Below are a few outfit ideas, again from Zara, for an evening Spanish-inspired look. Make sure to slow sip strong margaritas in these sultry outfits and drinks will be heading your way all night:

Crochet Strappy Dress $29.99

Slingback High Heel Shoes with Bow $39.99

Embossed Cross Body Bag $49.99

High Heel Lace up Leather Sandals $69.90

Long Floral Crystal Earrings $7.99

Lace Dress $39.90

Leather Cross Body Bag with Leather Detail $49.90

Now you’re dressed head to toe in your Spanish-inspired outfit. Head to a bar or a park and dance the salsa with a stranger… or maybe just take some cute photos.
