This past Thursday night, Marc Jacobs put on a party in Williamsburg, Brooklyn to celebrate his new Resort 2017 collection. The collection itself featured Eighties inspirations, complete with leopard & zebra prints, major layering, and varying pop culture logos. It makes sense that the bash was 80’s themed. The invitation explicitly stating the guidelines:
“Glamorous dress code door policy: Chic 80’s with voluminous proportions. Think Gloria von Thurn und Taxis at Le Cirque with Stephanie & Caroline of Monaco. Success, fame, and glamour. Punk princess with chiseled cheekbones and exaggerated brows, make Blondie and Brooke Shields proud. Mousse those tresses and tousle them high for a statement hairdo with pumped up volume. Vertiginous pumps like you’re sitting pretty for your Andy portrait. A decorative frenzy in electric paradise; more is more. No posers and definitely no preppys. Be the life of the party, and remember girls (and boys) just wanna have fun!”

Among the crowd, there were designers, models, drag queens, and more. Additionally, model attendees included Hanne Gaby Odiele, Andreja Pejic, Sara Sampaio, and Barbie Ferreira. And from the queue waiting outside the venue, you could see they all followed the instructions on the invitation. Each attendee was decked in 80’s wear. The host of the evening was LadyFag. Moreover, the party had legendary DJ Larry Levan, a photobooth and a claw machine game, full of Marc Jacobs products.
Big hair, bright makeup, and sequins were commonalities of the night.
As for those of us who weren’t able to attend, social media filled us in. In fact, Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show model Sara Sampaio took over the Marc Jacobs Snapchat, documenting the whole night to followers. The Marc Jacobs Instagram posted pictures of the outfits of the many models and videos showcasing the extravagant evening. No doubt, the photos are giving us major FOMO. Certainly, we are so excited to see what the theme is next year. Obviously, we can see that Marc doesn’t disappoint. However, that brings up the questions: did the Marc Jacobs show? LadyFag informs, “Maybe he is; one never knows…”
