There was a time when Hollywood was the only way we could experience grand visual extravaganzas but now Indian cinema has caught up quickly and we are coming up with some splendid movies. Tollywood has created a revolution by itself through such advancements and here comes another one. Let us have a look at it.

Story

Set during the backdrop of the 70s when Pakistan was waging a war with Bangladesh, the Pakistani Navy sent its most powerful submarine PNS Ghazi but since they have to pass through Indian waters, they have to get past the mighty INS Vikrant. Pakistan authorities decide to blast out Vikrant. The news reaches Indian intelligence and they assign the mission to Arjun Varma (Rana) of Indian Submarine S-21 to stop Ghazi. Whether S-21 is successful in the mission or not forms the rest.

Artists

It was a challenging and promising role for Daggubati Rana and he has delivered it to perfection. He showed the required toughness as a Naval officer and displayed the right patriotic emotions wherever required. The other big asset to this movie is the support cast. Kay Kay Menon was fantastic, Atul Kulkarni was awesome, Taapsee didn’t have much to do. The others did their bit as required and kept the momentum up.

Technical Values

The real hero of the film is the visual effects and the graphics. Given the fact that most of the movie is shot underwater, the realistic effect was required and the technical standards were nowhere shabby. Cinematography was the highlight and it blended well with the graphics. Dialogues are powerful and they trigger the emotions. The background score was good at places but it required some more adrenaline at few places. The script has its own weightage and the narration was done in a gripping manner.

Analysis

There are many films that come with a lot of hype but when they hit the screens, they become a huge letdown. However, Ghazi is the other way round. It already came with a good set of expectations and once you watch it in theatres, it would surpass your expectations. The main reason being, the plot of the movie is offbeat and it takes guts to conceive it in celluloid format. Secondly the technical values have certainly taken the image of Tollywood to the next level. Coming to the narration, the first half was a bit intense and the regular audience would find it a bit unusual but the interval bang changes the momentum. The second half gets into a much better position and the emotional quotient is high. Those who are expecting a lot of action scenes may not get much but if you are looking for a good visual experience, this is one movie that should not be missed. On a box office perspective, the film would appeal to the class and thinking audience while the mass may find it to be a different experience.

Verdict

Don’t miss the patriotic journey!
