I'm thankful for many things, but one of those is definitely pie, so I created a themed meal surrounding it! For dessert, a layered, creamy confection with a graham cracker crust, spread with a peanut butter and BUTTERFINGER® Bits-infused filling, then topped with whipped cream and more Bits. For the main course-STOUFFER’S® Lasagna pieces served on top of garlic bread!
With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, I've got all things food on the brain. This isn't so different from most days, but what's changed is that I'm much more concerned with and focused on planning the perfect feast. And if you know me, you'll know that I'm pretty much always thinking about dessert, so I came up with the pie of all pies to serve! It certainly will have the guests raving! It's one of those pies that will disappear in a hurry, so you'll be asked to bring it year after year! Just be prepared. :)
Growing up, my extended family decided that I was a pretty good roll maker, so I had bring a bulk batch of these Lion House Rolls to the big table that fourth Thursday of every November. I can't say I minded, because in my opinion, the rolls and the pie are the most important components of a Thanksgiving meal. I wanted to make sure I would still be enjoying the fluffy, buttery yummies, even when on my eighth round. :)
But let's not get distracted from this. You'll be dreaming of this pie year-round. Peanut Butter, chocolate and pie were meant to be together. Don't forget the pillow of cream on top!
We always race to see who can finish the main course quickest and be first to dig into the pie. I always save my appetite for dessert. I don't mind just a small helping of meat with an average portion of potatoes, because I want my tummy to have plenty of space left for decadent pie. I'll save extra space if today's Butterfinger Pie is on the menu!
{BUTERFINGER PIE}
Adapted from Cookies and Cups
Crust:
1 1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs
1/4 c. sugar
6 Tbsp. Butter, melted
Filling:
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. BUTTERFINGER® Bits, plus more for topping
1 8-ounce block cream cheese, softened
1 8-ounce container whipped topping
Topping:
1/2 c. heavy cream, cold
1 1/2 heaping Tablespoons powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
Prepare crust by stirring together graham cracker crumbs and sugar, then coating completely with melted butter. Press crust into an 8" pie plate and place in the freezer while preparing the filling.
For the filling, in the bowl of an electric mixer, cream together peanut butter, powdered sugar, BUTTERFINGER® Bits, cream cheese, and whipped topping. Spread over prepared crust. Top with more BUTTERFINGER® Bits in the center. Refrigerate for at least two hours. When ready to serve, whip cream with powdered sugar and vanilla, until peaks form. Pile cream in the center of the pie, and sprinkle with additional BUTTERFINGER® Bits.
And then, because I'm so busy thinking about and preparing for that big meal at the end of the month, my November week nights call for easy dinners like this Lasagna Pie.
My family decided that we need to eat lasagna on top of buttery, crunchy garlic bread every time. It's perfection. My son said it tasted like pizza, which is pretty much saying it's the bomb.
Why did I just now think of this? Lasagna Pie is what my life has been missing all those years. :)
To make it, I grabbed a STOUFFER’S® Family Size Lasagna and a package of Texas Toast Garlic Bread. Don't forget the BUTTERFINGER® Bits for dessert!
Everything was super easy to find at Walmart.
This is a main-course must-eat! It'll be making a regular appearance at our dinner table, especially during this busy holiday season.
Just warm the garlic bread according to package directions, cut it into square pieces, and top with pieces of cooked STOUFFER’S® Lasagna. It's finger-licking good and you don't even need a fork. :)
Just be sure to save room for dessert! Your taste buds will thank you! If this is not already on the Thanksgiving menu, it should be!
