FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 11, 2015 AM Update
McCall, Idaho – As of Thursday morning there was 1 fire reported and 4 fires we continue to manage. The Tepee Springs Fire and Rapid Fire remain priorities for suppression efforts. We would like to remind visitors to our National Forest to be aware of fire traffic around fire incidents and area closures.
Stage 1 Fire Restrictions are no longer in effect on the Payette National Forest. Rain showers, cooler weather and lower fire dangers have prompted state and federal wildfire officials to lift the Stage 1 Fire Restrictions within the West Central Idaho Mountains.
The Rapid Fire, estimated at 9,653 acres and 50 percent containment. It is burning south of Nick Peak and east of the Rapid Creek drainage, approximately 12 miles southeast of McCall. The fire showed very limited growth in the South Fork Buckhorn Creek yesterday due to support from aerial resources. Rehabilitation of the fireline on the south side of the fire is completed. Firefighters will continue working their way along the southeast side of the fire mopping up hotspots on the west side of Kennally Creek. Firefighters have made significant progress in the last few days on the east side of the fire working their way up to Cougar Saddle, currently being supported by aerial resources. This weekend rehabilitation is planned to be started on the southeast side of the fire. The Rapid Fire is currently being managed by Stephens’ Nevada Type 3 Team. An area closure is in effect for the Rapid Fire (see Facebook or Inciweb for map and Closure Order). Additional information is available at (http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/
