Plot
What does an authoritarian and atheist father who is believed to be a liberal think, when his son tells him that he wants to become a priest?
Tommaso is a successful, respected cardiac surgeon who also happens to be an arrogant atheist. However, Tommaso’s only son Andrea brings the family together to announce that he wants to become a priest. Tommaso refuses to accept his Catholicism, and is horrified when his wife Carla and daughter Bianca consider it themselves. Tommaso goes undercover while Andrea is absent, on retreat in a monastery, to investigate and bring down the charismatic Father Don Pietro, who he believes has “brain-washed” his son and caused disorder in his family.

Edoardo Falcone Edoardo Falcone is an Italian director and screenwriter. He collaborated with actors of Italian comedy such as Massimo Boldi, Alessandro Gassmann e Vincenzo Salemme. In 2015 he wins the David Donatello award for best new director and together with Marco Martani, wins the award for best screenplay at the XX Edition of Roseto debut film.

Tommaso è uno stimato cardiochirurgo, che è anche un ateo arrogante. Tuttavia, L’unico figlio di Tommasso, Andrea porta la famiglia insieme ad annunciare che vuole diventare prete. Tommaso rifiuta di accettare il suo Cattolicesimo, ed è sconvolto quando la moglie Carla e la figlia Bianca lo considerano se stessi. Tommaso va sotto copertura mentre Andrea è assente, in rifugio in un monastero, per investigare e portare giù il carismatico Padre Don Pietro, il quale crede ha “lavaggio del cervello” suo figlio e ha causato disordini nella sua famiglia.

Résumé
Tommaso (Marco Giallini), la cinquantaine, est un chirurgien affirmé. Gauchistes quelque peu en rupture d’idéal, Tommaso et son épouse Carla (Laura Morante) ont élevé leur fille Bianca (Ilaria Spada) et leur fils Andrea (Enrico Oetiker) dans un esprit de laïcité et d’engagement.
Malheureusement pour eux, Bianca, loin d’avoir emprunté le parcours tracé par ses parents, est une jeune femme mariée qui se désintéresse du monde qui l’entoure. Comble de l’horreur, voilà qu’Andrea annonce son intention de devenir prêtre. C’en est trop ! Tommaso décide de suivre son fils en cachette afin d’en savoir plus sur ce prêtre particulier qui selon lui a retourné Andrea. Il est bien décidé à le « libérer » de son influence. C’est ainsi que Tommaso fait la connaissance de Don Pietro (Alessandro Gassman). Toutefois, son charisme et son activisme ne laissent pas indifférent le chirurgien athée qui à son contact est amené à revoir certaines de ses positions. D’une manière plus ou moins directe, toute la famille est affectée par une série de changements.
