                                                Mr. Masaki Okada, Ambassador of Japan to Tanzania

 A road safety awareness campaign has been launched by the Africa Anzen Foundation (AAF) a local Tanzania-Japan NGO in collaboration with the Tanzania Traffic Police Force and the Embassy of Japan with the aim of reducing avoidable road accidents in the country.

The inauguration ceremony for the Anzen Unten campaign was held yesterday in Dar es Salaam and it attracted various decision makers and high ranking government officials the likes of; Commissioner of Police (Training and Operations) Paul Chagonja, Mohamed Mpinga, Deputy Commissioner of Police and representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ambassador of Japan, Masaki Okada.

The launch ceremony featured two major attractions that also serve as key elements of the campaign, first is the World premiere of Anzen Unten the movie whose director, Ben Suzuki is an internationally recognised film director was present inn person.

Secondly was the launch of a theme song to run the campaign, also named Anzen Unten and which was performed by Barnaba, Recho and Tony- a Japanese volunteer based in Tanzania and dispatched by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

To kick start the campaign, the Japan entourage will accompany the Tanzanian Traffic Police Force in holding at least two road safety workshops at Kigogo Primary School and another one at Mkwawa Primary School, both in the city.

At the workshops and throughout the campaign, the Anzen Unten song, as well as the movie, will both be used in the road safety campaigns as part of the National Road Safety Campaign initiative by Tanzanian Traffic Police Force.
