The Homemaker Program

To us, a Homemaker is defined as anyone who loves making home a special place. Our Homemakers are always seeking inspiration, clever advice and fresh ideas.

We pride ourselves in the community we’ve built around the program. We’re not looking to have one way communication; we’re looking for ongoing engagement as we build long lasting relationships.

We have two dedicated employees working with our Homemakers (Courtney and Alex). Together, we conceptualize and implement two sponsored campaigns a month, and design an educational newsletter that includes SEO and blogging tips. Homemakers also submit guest posts to be featured on the Wayfair website and are highlighted throughout our site with their “Blogger Picks”!

We’re always working to expand the program and find new opportunities for our bloggers.

PR Collaborations

In addition, to the Homemaker program, our public relations team partners extensively with the blogger community in a variety of ways including room makeovers, product reviews, brand partnerships, product curation and special events. The PR team works with blogs of varying sizes and carefully considers reach, following and design aesthetic informing those partnerships.

What factors do you look for when identifying bloggers to work with?

We look for a lot of different things! We do look at hard numbers, like overall reach, pageviews, social engagement and the amount of sponsored content on the particular blog. All sponsored posts all the time is a big turn off for us; we really like to see some heartfelt content! It’s also extremely important to us that any sponsored content on a blogger’s site is disclosed very clearly. We pride ourselves on being transparent about that, and look for bloggers who do too.

Aesthetically, we love clean layouts and bright, high-resolution photos. A contact tab with an email to reach you is huge (digging for an email is never fun, and if your email isn’t on your site, we have no way to reach you!). At the end of the day we are bloggers too and love a good user experience. Things like pop ups and too many ads take away from the site experience and tend to drive us away.

What can bloggers do to increase their chances of working with agencies and brands directly?

First and foremost, put thought and effort into your blog. Grow your following and your engagement. Know your audience so you can align with brands that are looking to engage with that same audience. Find brands you want to work with and reach out! See if they have programs in place or if they’d be willing to work with you, but don’t get discouraged if you don’t hear back.

It is important to create content that you are proud of – don’t post just to post because readers and brands can tell the difference. We love to work with bloggers who are reaching out to us and have content that aligns with the home décor space already. If you’re reaching out to a brand, make sure your blog shows why you’d be a good fit for them.
