Reports to: Director, Software Development
Reporting to Director of Software Development, the Radius Software Developer is responsible for the design, development and documentation of innovative, best-in-class software products focused on deploying RADIUS systems in a distributed clustered environment, for a SaaS offering.
Key Responsibilities:
Working as part of a team to help design, implement and test a highly available and scalable and secure central RADIUS platform to authenticate and authorize users of our products.
Documenting the solution with a deep understanding of the interactions and dependencies of the platform and to be able to communicate these with other team members.
Provide capacity planning, performance management and reporting for the platform, to help improve the user experience and reduce the cost of the solution.
Make recommendations regarding the tools and technologies to facilitate the platforms development and maintenance.
Conduct regular reviews where applicable to ensure that the platform adheres to the technical vision.
Develop and maintain advanced working knowledge on Radius and other Java server technologies used in the company.
Actively pursue professional development and acquire new skills.
Qualifications:
Mandatory Skills:
In depth knowledge of RADIUS (AAA) and Free Radius.
In depth knowledge of Wi-Fi Standards, including 802.1x (PEAP/TLS).
In depth knowledge of industry protocols including TCP/IP, IPSec and VLANs.
Experience with AWS, Google or similar Cloud platforms.
Experience with distributed architectures and platform design/integration.
Experience with the principles of secure network design and best practices.
Experience with SQL databases.
Experience troubleshooting network related issues.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Worked on a professional RADIUS project to completion.
Nice to have:
In depth knowledge of Hotspot 2.0.
Experience with AAA on various switches, controllers and access points.
Experience with database clustering and replication, across data centers.
Proficient in a Linux environment.
Proficient using source code management systems and software life cycle management.
Education / Training:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent work related experience.
Experience:
5+ years’ networking experience in distributed environments.
5+ years’ experience in software development.
Personal Attributes:
Superior written and verbal communication skills.
Able to work in a fast paced and structured position yet adapt to a flexible and team-oriented environment.
