Luca Todesco has finally released the latest build of the Yalu jailbreak with support for iOS 10.2. The tool is first release and is not necessarily stable. It also does not support all devices yet. Whilst Todesco has said that it should already be more stable than the betas of Yalu for 10.0-10.1.1, a first build is a first build. Proceed at your own risk.

If you own a non-supported iOS device then it’s best that you avoid using the iOS 10.2 Yalu jailbreak and wait until Luca adds support for it.

If you can’t wait for the stable version of Yalu to be released, then this tutorial will guide you through the steps to jailbreak iOS 10.2 on supported devices using Yalu and Cydia Impactor.

Warning: Yalu jailbreak is flagged as an “alpha” build and might create issues on your device, so proceed at your own risk. We would strongly recommend waiting until a more stable version of the tool is available.

Read the following points before proceeding:

This jailbreak is compatible with the following devices:

iPhone 6s

iPhone 6s Plus

iPad Pro

iPhone SE

Yalu Jailbreak does not support the following iOS 10 devices yet:

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus

iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5

iPad Air 2, iPad Air

iPad 4

iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2

The jailbreak works only on the above iOS devices running iOS 10.2.

The jailbreak is semi-tethered, similar to the Pangu jailbreak for iOS 9.3.3.

Make sure that you take a complete backup of your device via iCloud or iTunes.

Ensure that your device has enough battery level for the jailbreak process to complete.

If the jailbreak doesn’t work properly, you will have to restore your device to the latest iOS firmware, which is iOS 10.2.1 currently.

How to Jailbreak iOS 10.2 using Yalu Jailbreak and Cydia Impactor

1) Download Cydia Impactor to your computer.

2) Download yalu102 Beta to your computer.

3) Launch Cydia Impactor and connect your device to your computer.

4) Drag the yalu102.ipa onto Cydia Impactor to load it up, and hit Start.

5) Enter your Apple ID when prompted.

6)a) If you don’t have two-step verification turned on for your Apple ID, enter your Apple ID password when prompted.

b) If you do have two-step verification turned on for your Apple ID, you must log in to the Apple ID website, and create an app-specific password. Enter that password into Impactor instead of your normal password.

7) Once Impactor has completed installing the .ipa, look to your device and check that the yalu102 app has appeared on your Home screen.

8) Open the Settings app on your device, and navigate to General – Device Management.

9) Select the profile named after the Apple ID you entered into Impactor, and inside you should see the yalu102 app listed. Press the Trust button to trust this app on your device. If you do not do this, it will not run.

10) Once you have trusted the app, return to your Home screen and launch the yalu102 app.

11) Press the Go button to jailbreak your device, and wait.

12) Your device should respring, and then the Cydia app should have appeared on your Home screen.

If this does not happen, check the profile is still trusted, reboot, and run the yalu102 app again.

13) Launch Cydia, and install any recommended upgrades.

14) Once this is done, add the following repository to Cydia:

http://apt.saurik.com/beta/cydia-arm64/

This will ensure you receive beta updates for the Cydia app itself. However, you will have to install updates for the yalu102 app manually for now by following the steps of this guide, rather than through Cydia.

That’s all folks!

Congrats, your device is now jailbroken! Cydia will take some time to perform the initial setup when you launch it for the first time. After it’s done, you can start using it, but keep in mind that you should only install the compatible tweaks to avoid running into issues. We will post the list of iOS 10.2 compatible jailbreak tweaks soon.

Additionally, this jailbreak is semi-tethered, which means that every time you restart your iOS device, you will have to launch the Yalu (yalu102) app to re-jailbreak it.

If the jailbreak is causing issues on your device, then the best thing to do is to remove it by restoring your device to iOS 10.2.1.

Let us know how it goes in the comments below.
