Every year I look forward to the one day out of the year, where we as Dallasite’s, can walk the street of Greenville Ave in Dallas, wearing green and freely have a beer or Jell-O shots in our hand (or bra like me lol) celebrating 38th Anniversary Dallas St. Patty’s Day! Get your leprechaun costume ready, cooler on wheels packed and get ready for the Greenville Ave’s St. Patty’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 11th, literally going on ALL DAY, with performances from Jimmy’s Eats Word! The parade kicks off at 11 am at Greenville at Blackwell St., goes 2 miles down and ends at Yale Blvd/SMU Blvd at 75 Central Expressway around 2 o’clock! More than 90 parade floats will be featured in the parade and 1,700 people will walk and party in the route! Being from the neighborhood where the parade originated at, over the many years of attending and participating in the parade, I’ve seen the CRAZIEST things happen! If you’re a newbie attending the parade this year, or just someone who just needs some extra tips on how to survive it, you’re in luck, because I’m a pro at surviving the St. Patty’s Day parade. There’s a list of things your need to insure you have a blast, but also staying safe while partying and walking! Lol! Check out my tips below!

1. Have cash! You’ll need it for all the cash only outdoor bars and food stands on the parade route, or tipping the host at restaurants to skip the wait list (trust me it works) If you don’t take cash, look out for ATM’s in random spots off Greenville, but be prepared for jacked ATM fees.

2. Pack your own cooler with your drinks! This is the biggest day of the year, where the law allows us to publicly walk with a open container. And trust there will be TONS of DPD on hand watching for those who’ve partied way too hard and will take action.

3. DON’T DRIVE TO THE PARADE! Unless you have someone who lives in the area, where you can park at, take a taxi, Uber, LYFT, or have someone drop you off because parking will be a HOT MESS! Beware of new street parking policies and signs! Tow trucks will have no chill to tow your car! Uber is offering $15 off for first time users with promo code: DFWSPD17

4. Take a hassle free, cheap poncho, or umbrella. Every year it’s rained, and this year we’ve a 60% chance of rain right when the festivities start.

5. Last by not least, make sure you charge your phone or take a portable charger. It sucks when your phone dies and you’ve lost your squad, trying to find your car, order a ride or just trying to get a good selfie! Lol! Some places will have charging stations.

Its gonna be cray cray on any part of Greenville, if you follow my tips, you should be Gucci! If you don’t, be prepared to deal with some problems you could of avoided if you followed my survival tips! Lol! This year the St. Patty’s Day Council are expecting 125K party people this year, included you and I! Lol!! Wear your green, have a fun, and be safe!
