Christmas songs? Check. Christmas movies (or even the holiday-themed horror movies)? Check. Cocktails for Christmas party? Check. A perfect Christmas gift for your loved ones? Check. But what about milk and cookies for Santa Claus? Well, after all these years of delivering gifts to the homes of good children, he may be getting a little sick of the ordinary cookies he receives in return.

Since Santa Claus is coming to town very soon, we thought he might want to try something new by visiting some bakery cafes that serve their own versions of “milk and cookies” for Santa this Christmas. It’s fairly easy to figure out his schedule when most of the bakery cafes in town are warming up to the festive season with some great alternative snacks for Santa Claus and of course, for us.

If you’d like to, go have yourself a merry little Christmas with Santa Claus at these bakery cafes!

1. Wondermilk

Wondermilk Café has always been known for its desserts and beverages, especially its speciality drink of the same name (flavoured fresh milk with choices such as butterscotch, caramel and vanilla). The café has been around since 2000 and it has evolved from working solely on graphic design to championing the unique cupcakes phenomenon in Klang Valley labeled as “Cuppacakes”.

The cupcakes clearly became the main attraction at Wondermilk café and the store will only bake customised version of cupcakes if you place your order in advance. This is because the owner has to make sure the quality is retained when they bake the customised versions of cupcakes. There are 36 pieces of cupcakes in the Petite Size box and 25 pieces in the Maxi Size. For the Christmas speacial, the Snowy set is priced at RM250 with 25 pieces of cupcakes contained in a box. The size is approximately 2” in diameter. There are various flavours to choose from, including Royal Vanilla, Choc Chip, Strawberry Dream, Coffee Circus, Mint Choc Chip, and Amazin Raisin. Dreamz Bakery is a hidden gem as the café is located at the second floor of the shop lots in The Strands, Kota Damansara. However, since it has been discovered, patrons keep coming back for more desserts at Dreamz Bakery. It may be a little small but the café specialises in artisanal cakes & deserts.

This Christmas, the owner of Dreamz Bakery has taken the opportunity to bake more cookies for patrons to take home as Christmas gifts. A bag of the cookies is priced at RM9.90 and there are 6 pieces of cookies in the bag. What amazed us the most is its shoe-shaped Christmas cake with cute decorations. The cake is priced at RM45 for 300g and RM85 for a half kg. There are 3 flavours to choose from and they are Japanese Cheese, Red Velvet and the classic one, Chocolate. Orders can be made beforehand so that the owner can bake it before collection.

Komugi café is a sweet tooth’s heaven and this time around, the café has decided to celebrate this special occasion with a wide selection of Christmas special pastries including cookies, ginger brea man house, log cakes, macarons, and most importantly, Baumkuchen.

The café focuses more on Baumkuchen, Europe’s traditional pastry that is popular in Japan. The name Baumkuchen means “tree cake” and it is a ring-shaped cake that shows a growth ring when sliced. It came as no surprise to us that Komugi would want to include the Baum cake in the menu because of the way it looks.
