The list of Death Penalty for the Cannabis plant in Malaysia has mysteriously dissappeared. I have saved a copy from the cache folder so as to remember the many who have been hanged under a Dracorian law.

May 15, 2011: ALOR SETAR: In the same courtroom, a rubber tapper was sentenced to death for trafficking 381gm of cannabis four years ago. May 8, 2011: ALOR SETAR: car dealer Airiy Azmi Mohamad, 31, from Kelantan, was sentenced to the gallows by Judicial Commissioner Mohd Zaki Abd Wahab of the Malaysian High Court for trafficking 60 kg of ganja at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Customs, Immigration and Quarantine Complex on April 17, 2009. April 20, 2011: SHAH ALAM, (Bernama) -- A mechanic and workshop owner were sentenced to death by the High Court here today, after they were found guilty of trafficking 1,885 grammes of cannabis at a petrol station on the Kesas Highway, Subang Jaya, near here, two years ago. Judge Datuk Abd. Rahim Uda made the decision after finding that the prosecution managed to prove the accused Muhammad Zikry K.Suresh, 42, and Md Sukri Abdul Rahman, 42, had committed the offence. He said the defence also failed to create a reasonable doubt on the trafficking aspect, besides possession and control of the cannabis. April 19, 2011: ALOR SETAR: Two cousins have been sentenced to death by the High Court for trafficking in 938.30gm of cannabis two years ago. Kharul Nizan Osman, 29, and Mohd Azizi Hashim, 28, from Kepala Batas were found guilty of trafficking the drug by the roadside in Kg Sungai Buloh, Sungai Petani at 9.30pm on Jan 27, 2009. April 19, 2011: SHAH ALAM: A woman sobbed uncontrollably when the High Court sentenced her son to death after convicting him of trafficking in 929gm of marijuana four years ago. Numbed by the death sentence handed down by Justice Siti Mariah Ahmad, Mohd Fais Diram, 28, could only watch helplessly as his mother, in her 60s, collapsed on the bench in the court gallery. With the aid of a walking stick, she rushed towards him in an attempt to hug him and almost collapsed when she saw her son being handcuffed. April 11, 2011: ALOR SETAR: A High Court here sentenced a 49-year-old woman to the gallows for trafficking 56.63kg cannabis two years ago. Restaurant helper Rahani Ahmad, from Seberang Jaya in Penang, was found guilty for trafficking the drug at a parking area at Bandar Baharu toll plaza at 6.35pm on March 7, 2009. (Source: The Star,)

April 8, 2011: A Putrajaya Appeals Court panel of judges led by Dato Clement Skiner rejected the appeal of Indonesian Muhammad Imron of Aceh, a.k.a Fernandez. April 8, 2011: GEORGE TOWN: A former car salesman was sentenced to death by the High Court here for trafficking in 18.89kg of cannabis. Judicial Commissioner Nurmala Salim laid down the sentence after the court found that Aidilfitri Idrus's defence was a mere denial. She also ruled that the defence had failed to raise a reasonable doubt in the prosecutions case. Aidilfitri, 41, was found guilty of trafficking in the drug in Jalan Tunku Kudin 1 at 2.40pm on April 30, 2008. PULAU PINANG 8 April - Suasana tenang di Mahkamah Tinggi di sini bertukar hiba apabila beberapa ahli keluarga seorang bekas jurujual kereta tidak mampu menahan kesedihan setelah tertuduh dihukum gantung kerana mengedar 18,889 gram kanabis, tiga tahun lalu. April 8, 2011: KUALA LUMPUR, 8 APRIL, 2011: The High Court here today sentenced a security guard to death by hanging for trafficking cannabis weighing 941g nine years ago. Judge Datuk Lim Yee Lan said the prosecution had proven the case against Shamuddin Sohan, 42, beyond reasonable doubt. In 2006, Lim acquitted and discharged Shamuddin after the prosecution failed to prove a prima facie case. April 4, 2011: Judicial Commissioner Datuk Akhtar Tahir of the Malaysian High Court sentenced security guard Ahmad Shafila Mohamad Arshad, 40, to death for trafficking 9,482 grams of ganja at a petrol station in Gombak on February 26, 2008. March 24, 2011: SHAH ALAM, March 24 (Bernama) -- The son of a retired policeman was sentenced to the gallows by the High Court here today after he was found guilty of trafficking ganja (cannabis) weighing 2.3 kilogrammes, two years ago. Judge Datuk Abdul Rahim Uda handed down the sentence to Mohamad Hasnizam Hussein, 33, after finding the defence had failed to raise any reasonable doubts in the prosecution's case. Abdul Rahim also ordered Mohamad Hasnizam, an insurance claims advisor, to serve two years jail to another charge, of being in possession of 10.52 grammes of ganja. March 17, 2011: ALOR SETAR, March 17 (Bernama) -- A vegetable farmer was sentenced to death by the High Court here Thursday, when he was found guilty of trafficking in 26.35 kilogrammes of cannabis, two years ago. February 28, 2011: SHAH ALAM: A factory worker Mohd Kamarulzaman Irwan Shah, 24, was sentenced to death by Justice Datuk Wira Mohtarudin Baki of the Malaysian High Court for trafficking in 295.01 grammes of cannabis at Rawang on May 16, 2009. February 18th, 2011: JOHOR BARU: A pasar malam trader was sent to the gallows by the High Court here after he was found guilty of trafficking 0.77kg of cannabis. Fadil Bachok, 46, was accused of committing the offence on Sept 9, 2009, at around 2.40am at his house in Kampung Parit Pasir, Pekan Nenas, in Pontian. February 10th, 2011: GEORGE TOWN: The High Court on Thursday sentenced to death by hanging a school canteen trader after finding him guilty of trafficking in 4.4 kg of cannabis two years ago. Judicial Commissioner Nurmala Salim imposed the sentence on Shahrizal Abdul Ghani, 37, saying the defence failed to raise a reasonable doubt in the prosecution's case and that it had merely denied the charge against the accused. January 27th, 2011: TEMERLOH, Jan 27 (Bernama) -- Three people including a couple were sentenced to death by hanging by the high court here Thursday for trafficking in 4.521kg ganja last year. Judicial Commissioner Datuk Akhtar Tahir said the prosecution had proven a prima facie case against Ahmad Mukamal Abdul Wahab, 37, Suhana Kamarudin, 28, and her husband Shawal Hashim, 37. January 4th, 2011: PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court here yesterday upheld the conviction and death sentence on a restaurant operator for trafficking 1,032g of cannabis 11 years ago. The three-man panel comprising Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Arifin Zakaria and Federal Court judges Tan Sri Mohd Ghazali Mohd Yusoff and Datuk Heliliah Mohd Yusof unanimously dismissed the final appeal by Mohd Farid Sukis. December 22nd, 2010: SHAH ALAM: A car painter who was sentenced to death by the High Court here for drug trafficking lost his cool and kicked a press photographers camera yesterday. Tuay Boon Wee, 40, was initially calm when Justice Mohtarudin Baki meted out the sentence but upon being ambushed by photographers when he was led out of the courtroom, he lost his composure and kicked one photographers camera. He was charged under Section 39(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for trafficking 9,144g of cannabis in front of a restaurant in Petaling Jaya two years ago. December 8th, 2010: DATIN YEOH WEE SIAM, Judicial Commissioner High Court (Criminal Division) Shah Alam (Petaling Jaya) sentenced Arif Zakuan B. Baharudin to death for trafficking 534 grammes of cannabis in March 2007. (Source: Court documents December 10th, 2010)

November 30th, 2010: ALOR SETAR: A technician was sentenced to death by hanging by the High Court here today after he was found guilty of trafficking in 1,147.3gm of cannabis two years ago. Justice Datuk Mohd Azman Husin handed down the sentence on Azizan Yahaya after finding that the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubts on the prosecution's case. November 24th, 2010: KUANTAN: A 34-year-old contractor was sentenced to death by the High Court yesterday for trafficking in 762.41g of cannabis 8 months ago. Baseri Ismail was found guilty by judicial commissioner Datuk Akhtar Tahir, who ruled that the defence had failed to raise a reasonable doubt in the prosecution's case. November 19th, 2010: SHAH ALAM: Justice Mohd Zaki found Indonesians Ismail Ibrahim, 36, and Azhar Zakaria, 37, guilty of trafficking in 20kg of cannabis and sent them to the gallows. The two shop assistants were intercepted at the Gombak toll plaza on May 21, 2002 by the police, who found the drugs in two mineral water boxes. Mohd Zaki meted out the sentence after ruling that the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubt. Indonesians Ismail Ibrahim, 36, and Azhar Zakaria, 37, guilty of trafficking in 20kg of cannabis and sent them to the gallows. November 18th, 2010: PUTRAJAYA: Suzimi Shaari, 45. Earlier, the panel had unanimously dismissed Suzimi's appeal against conviction and death sentence imposed on him by the Taiping High Court on March 31, 2007 on the first charge of trafficking in 4,877 grammes of cannabis. He was found guilty of committing the offence at a car park in the Gunung Semanggol rest area at KM195.5 North-South Expressway, Semanggol, Perak at 10.15pm on Aug 2, 2001. However, the panel reduced Suzimi's second trafficking charge to possession and subsequently, sentenced him to 10 years jail when he pleaded guilty to the reduced charged. Suriyadi ordered Suzimi to serve the sentence from the date of his arrest on Aug 2, 2001. Suzimi was also found guilty and sentenced to death by the Taiping High Court for the second charge of trafficking in 263.2 grammes of cannabis at his house in Jalan Gula, Simpang Empat, Semanggol at 10.50pm on the same day. November 11th, 2010: SHAH ALAM: A debt collector, who is suffering from a chronic disease, was sentenced to death by the High Court here yesterday after being found guilty of trafficking in 1,932 grammes of cannabis found in his car on May last year. Justice Datuk Mohd Yazid Mustafa passed the sentence after he was satisfied that the accused, Mohd Riduan Shah Abdullah, 53, had failed to raise a reasonable doubt against the prosecutions case. November 9th, 2010: SHAH ALAM: Ali Bin Din Liakat Baddar: "That you, on June 9, 2004 at approximately 6:15 pm at address of the G-8-16, Apartments Puchong Permata 2, Puchong at the Petaling District in the State of Selangor Darul Ehsan, was distribute dangerous drugs weight of 269.66 grams Cannabis and, therefore, you have to do a under section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and may be punishable under section 39B (2) of the same Act. ". Accordingly, I held that the Prosecution has proved its case beyond reasonable doubt against the Accused. I found the Accused guilty and convicted him on the charge. I sentenced the Accused to death and, in accordance with s.277 of the CPC, I ordered that the Accused be hanged by the neck till he is dead. November 3rd, 2010: PUTRAJAYA: A former lance corporal has failed in his bid to escape the death penalty after the Court of Appeal upheld his conviction of trafficking cannabis eight years ago. Court of Appeal Judge Justice Suriyadi Halim Omar, who chaired a three-man panel, dismissed the appeal by Yusri Daud, 42. Yusri, who was attached to the General Operations Force then, was convicted of trafficking 5,756gm of cannabis in front of a pharmacy in Jalan Cheras at 4.15pm on May 9, 2002, by the Shah Alam High Court on April 24 last year. October 24th, 2010: ALOR SETAR: A tractor driver was sentenced to death by the High Court here yesterday after he was found guilty of trafficking in 2,700.01gm of cannabis five years ago. Justice Datuk Zamani A.Rahim handed down the sentence on Tamim Ansari Abdul Hamid after finding that the defence had failed to raise any reasonable doubts on the prosecutions case. September 26th, 2010: ALOR SETAR: Two friends were sentenced to death after they were found guilty by the High Court for drug trafficking. Rizal Sham Ahmad, 32, and Md Fitri Md Saad, 33, were found guilty of trafficking in 2.8kg of cannabis at the Aneka Shopping Complex carpark in Gurun at about 4pm on Feb 7, 2006. Both were charged under Section 39B (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act. Justice Datuk Zamani A. Rahim found that the prosecution had proven the case beyond a reasonable doubt. September 23rd, 2010: GEORGE TOWN: A traditional medicine seller was sentenced to death by a High Court here for trafficking in nearly 1kg of cannabis. Judicial Commissioner Nurmala Salim yesterday convicted M. Jegatheswaran, 22, of trafficking in 958gm of cannabis at the parking lot of the Ampang Jajar public housing project flats on Jalan Permatang Pauh in central Seberang Prai at 10pm on May 8, 2007. The prosecution, represented by deputy public prosecutor Tan Guat Cheng, had submitted that Jegatheswaran had knowledge of the drugs that were in the basket of his motorcycle which he rode to the scene where the police had ambushed him. September 5th, 2010: ZALOR SETAR: A clerk who was charged with trafficking in cannabis four years ago cried when he was sentenced to death on Sunday. Zakaria Ahmad, 32, could not hold back his tears when he saw his mother and three siblings crying after Judicial Commissioner Mohd Zaki Abdul Wahab delivered the verdict. Zakaria was found guilty of trafficking 2,207.1gm of cannabis on Feb 8, 2006 at a petrol station in Taman Sejati Indah in Sungai Petani. August 6th, 2010: 26-year-old R. Satiamoorty was sent to the gallows after the High Court here found him guilty of trafficking in 29.298kg of cannabis. He had kept the drugs in hidden compartments in his modified rented car. The offence was committed at about 5.40pm on May 13 last year. July 1st, 2010: GEORGE TOWN: A lawyer representing a food outlet assistant on a drug trafficking charge lost his cool after the judge ordered his client to enter defence. The drama transpired after High Court judicial commissioner Mohd Amin Firdaus Abdullah ordered Sharifurahim Abdullah, 30, to enter his defence for trafficking in 23kg of cannabis. June 18, 2010: in Malaysia, 33-year-old van driver Mohd Zamri Abdul Khamis from Johor was sentenced to death by High Court Justice Zamani A. Rahim for trafficking in 95kg of cannabis on June 13, 2005, at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Customs, Immigration and Quaran tine border complex. June 6, 2010: Judge Datuk Zamani A. Rahim of the Malaysian High Court sentenced vegetable farmer Ramli Abd Rahman, 36, and civil servant Sulaiman Ismail, 38, to death after finding them guilty of trafficking in 11,135 grams of cannabis in Junjung, Kulim, on May 3, 2006. May 27, 2010: GEORGE TOWN: A 29-year-old despatch clerk has been sentenced to death by a High Court here for trafficking in 4,619g of cannabis. May 18, 2010: Justice Datuk Su Geok Yiam of the Malaysian High Court sentenced despatch rider Sharizan Khajis, 32, and driver Junaidi Johan, 26, to death for trafficking 921gm of cannabis in Kampung Dalek Baruat at 9.45pm on Oct 3, 2005. (Sources: Bernama, 18/05/2010)

April 2nd, 2010: PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Court here yesterday overturned a factory workers 18 years jail term and sentenced him to death on two drug trafficking charges. After the court pronounced its judgment, Zulkifli Arshad, 35, was seen in tears when hugged by his family members. Zulkifli was charged with trafficking in 5796.7gm of cannabis in a car at Km10 Jalan Kluang, Batu Pahat, Johor, and 3867.2gm of cannabis in a house in Parit Senkuang, Jalan Kluang, Sri Gading, at about 1am on Jan 27, 2001. March 31, 2010: labourer Shukor Md Noor, 29, was sentenced to death by Judicial commissioner Mohd Amin Firdaus Abdullah of the Malaysian High Court for trafficking in 23,478g (10 slabs) of ganja at Lorong Perak on July 17, 2003. (Sources: New Straits Times, 01/04/2010)

March 11, 2010: KANGAR: A lorry driver was sentenced to death by the High Court here on Thursday for trafficking in 53,074.7gm of ganja six years ago. Judicial Commissioner Datuk Zamani A.Rahim, in convicting Mad Rodzi Che Din, said the defence had failed to cast a doubt on the prosecutions case. February 22, 2010: Indonesian boat maker Panizan Sunan Achayari, 32, was sentenced to death by Justice Datuk Mohd Zawawi Salleh of the High Court in Johor Baharu, Malaysia, for trafficking in 1.6kg of ganja in Majidee on March 22, 2006. (Sources: The Star, New Straits Times, 24/02/2010)

February 18, 2010: in Seremban, Malaysia, High Court Judge Datuk Ahmad Nafsy Yasin sentenced contractor Al Bakhtiar Abd Samad, 32, to death for trafficking in 993.8g of cannabis at Kuala Pilah on July 8, 2006. December 17, 2009: factory worker Muhammad Khairul Esa Jemali, 22, was sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court for trafficking in 316.53g of cannabis on May 8, 2008.
