The boys indoor track team competed at Tantasqua on Wednesday 1/8 scoring against Woodstock Academy, Auburn High School, and Millbury High School. Obviously the guys needed to shake a little dust off this week after the long break. Some unfortunate “no heights” in the high jump, two disqualifications on false starts, and drop out from the 2mi kept us from closing the gap with Woodstock Academy who we set out to compete with. On the plus side, excellent performances from several athletes earned a win over Millbury. Thomas Nixon took 4th overall in the 55m hurdles scoring 1st place points against Auburn and Millbury, and 2nd place points against Woodstock. He cleared the hurdles in 7.3 seconds. Thomas returned to tie Kyle Jordan for 5th place overall in the 55m dash both ran 7.00. They picked up points in all three scoring meets. Rob Ficarra took 2nd overall to an Auburn thrower, he put the shot 41’ 11” and scored 1st place points against Woodstock and Millbury. Sean Sullins was nipping at his heels throwing a solid 38’ and Kyle Jordan and Todd Jones had great first attempts at 29’10” and 28’ respectively. Several other scoring performances from Ryan Zwick in the 1k, Sean Sullins in the 600m, and more helped us earn a solid win over Millbury while Auburn and Woodstock were just too much for us on that day. Excellent first time performances from Todd Jones and Kyle Jordan, welcome additions to our squad.

On the girls side our young women took a couple steps back in their shot put performances but Amelia set a personal record in the 300 running 56 seconds. Good to see our two girls putting some points on the board!
