According to travelo.hu, gastro website eater.com recommends a Canadian food truck that makes the sweetest ice cream cones ever. What’s more, this year from August 26 to 28 you can dig into one the most extreme ice cream cones to hit the Canadian National Exhibition grounds. Eva’s Original Chimneys is a brand-new type doughnut cone made fresh using only seven, all-natural and mostly organic ingredients and it turned out this amazing chimney cake is made by Hungarians.

You can read about the origin of the chimney cake here, but now let’s see how the idea was born to fill the cake/cone up with ice cream and toppings. Éva was born in Budapest but she left Hungary after the revolution of 1956 and left behind everything to start a new life in Canada with her husband and two children. She always talked about chimney cakes, the deliciousness of her homeland, nostalgically. One day her grandson Justin decided to make their big dream real with his wife named Kristin and they traveled around the world for two years. Their last stop was Budapest where they tried the chimney cake mentioned so many times by Justin’s grandma. There was no more question about the next stop of their voyage. They returned home, joined Éva, bought a food truck and this is how Eva’s Original Chimneys was born.

What can we find at them? Let’s see…

The Original ($8) is a cinnamon coated chimney filled with vanilla soft serve and topped with a strawberry.

The Eva’s Apple Pie ($9) features a cinnamon coated chimney loaded with vanilla soft serve, apple pie preserves and a cinnamon dusting. This cone is also available in a vegan offering which swaps out the vanilla soft serve for coconut whipped cream.

The Berrylicious ($9) cone is a cinnamon coated chimney packed with Nutella, vanilla soft serve, berry compote and fresh strawberries.

Canadians love their delicacies ever since. We can find them on the street food toplists of Canada, but they won prizes also, such as the best freshman at the AwesTruck competition.
