“Since the starting of my college life 3 years back, I always wanted to do something different to stand out of the crowd. Because being a part of it never appealed to be a good idea. So I started my startup called ‘Kabaada‘ when i was in 2nd year of B.tech.
Starting up while still being in college wasn’t easy, especially starting something with the name “Kabaada”, people found the name amusing but, majorly, they didn’t believe in my idea or capabilities or I’d rather say, in my vision towards making a change in the society, even if it was only for the betterment of it at large. While some people laughed/mocked me for it, only a few people appreciated me for what i was beginning to do. But this all went down the lane when my startup started going up on the hill heights. I knew i had to work around it to make it successful and hence shut their mouths.
It all started back in 2015 when I was going home to spend my summer vacations with my family, I discovered that most of the people at my college hostel had left behind a huge amount of trash (newspapers/old books/used registers and other scrap). This scrap was then being sold by the hostel authorities. I noticed anomalies in the system, such as the lack of distinction between normal and e-waste, and decided to do something about it.
I had been wanting to start something for a long time; reading about entrepreneurs online just increased my drive. Around the same time, TVF Pitchers was launched and it further fueled my enthusiasm. I had both – the idea and the motivation.
Then giving way to my energy, I started Kabaada.com in September 2015. It is a portal that helps people sell their scraps without waiting for the dealer. Fast forwarding to now, It has been recognized as one of the Top 100 CleanTech Startup at NewEnergy Global Startup fest in Astana, Kazakhstan and has been acquired after 10 months of its operations.
If you ask me the most beautiful thing that I now realize is that if I would have listened to all those people who were laughing or mocking at me in the beginning, I would not have been here & they are the same people who now asks me for help in starting their startups, success parties etc.
This journey changed a mischievous school going boy to an inspiration for everyone in college.”
