“To some people, entrepreneurship comes from innovation; to some, through creativity; some dive into it because of a brilliant idea, and then, there are people like me for whom entrepreneurship comes as a journey. Slowly and steadily seeping through in life.
Entrepreneurship first came to me from my college, FDDI, Ministry of commerce run college which has always been all about startups and doing something of your own. There i met Ridhima who later became my partner in our venture together. Living in an atmosphere where one is being sold the idea of entrepreneurship day in and day out motivated us to start our own thing. But that’s not it.
Stories of famous and successful entrepreneurs like Marc Cuban, Richard Branson etc. have always driven my head more into it. Their journey and the outcome of it inspire me to move ahead. Reading books on Entrepreneurs and watching biographies – all this just kept on building up and eventually reaching FDDI was the icing on the cake. This was a “KNOCK” on my door to take me on my entrepreneurial journey and guess what, I did not waste a lot of time opening it.
I met Ridhima Chopra in my college who later became my partner in our venture together. While we both had done couple of internships with different companies, working with a startup called Squadrun turned out to be a turning point of our life. We were first two interns and after talking to the founder and co-founder of the startup, we started working on our own Idea. Currently we are working on Kakcho which is a fashion styling application. We connect users with a fashion stylist and provide instant fashion advice for the clothes that a user has in his/her wardrobe.
Starting-up was indeed difficult. We had challenges to overcome, and still have. Coming from a family of Service men, convincing my parents that I want to do something of my own was tough. For complete 1 year, I and my co-founder Ridhima use to travel back and forth to each others house and work. When youngsters of our age were smoking, drinking, dating; we were trying to make Kakcho work out. Our only time off was when we had to go out for a market research. Now when I look back, it all feels worth it.
All your hardwork, passion and love for the idea came true when our App reached 1000 downloads for the first time. It was a moment of success when you are travelling in the metro and someone is exploring your application, you feel that this is the best thing you could have ever done. From that moment onwards, the only thing I love doing is Kakcho. I breath, eat and drink Kakcho and this the most beautiful feeling in the world.
I believe one should NEVER STOP doing what you love. 24×7 we let our mind rule us and make us do different things. My request is that give your heart atleast 10 minutes to rule you. Be driven by your heart for 10 minutes. Do things you love. Meet people who make you happy. I promise the 10 minutes you will give to your heart will take care of all the troubles and challenges you are going to face.”
