"We believe this resolution, which continues the mandate of the UN Special Rapporteur in Iran, is a significant tool for the protection of human rights defenders in the country and the promotion of human rights overall" - addressed HRHT and its member organisations the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia - Mr. Mikheil Janelidze, in a letter sent on 16.03.2017.
Georgia was elected as a member of UN Human Rights Council for the years 2016-2018 and will carry out the Vice President's functions during 2017.
