2) What is the legal age for military service?

The legal age for military service in Amsterdam is 21 years old. In February 2013, Amsterdam is to become the first municipality in the Netherlands to officially increase the legal age for military to fight in war from 18 to 21 years. Increasing the legal age is part of a set of measures designed to tackle abuse in the war industry and strengthen the position of soldiers. The City of Amsterdam believes that people aged 21 are better able to make a well-considered decision about fighting and killing in combat than those aged 18 as well as being better able to cope with serving in a war zone.  2

"In the Netherlands, voluntary military service is a legal profession. Forced military service is illegal." 3

This was just an April’s fools joke. In most of human history in most countries in the world men were forced to serve in wars, with not much concern for age.

"In the Netherlands, voluntary prostitution is a legal profession. Forced prostitution is illegal." 3

Countries with mandatory military service include Denmark and Austria. Nobody, of course, is concerned with psychological problems of involuntary or voluntary draftees into military combat and killing service. No concern with Post Traumatic Stress disorder, freedom of choice, when it concerns MEN.

But feminist activists never stop preventing women against their will from their own choices.

The ever rising age of consent

It is no joke that the prediction of the antifeminist regarding sexual trade union policy has become true: a country where the age of consent is 16, the age for prostitution is 18,  20 year olds are not allowed to choose to work as prostitutes in Amsterdam. The Deutsche Welle, in a mistaken Freudian slip, advances the (soon to become true?) news that it has been increase to 23 years of age.

Will the age of consent for prostitutes eventually, be increased to 70, the age of The Fokkens sisters on the picture?

Louise And Martine Fokkens, Amsterdam’s Oldest Prostitutes, Retiring At 70 Years Old

This February, Amsterdam raised the minimum age for prostitutes from 18 to 21. For Louise and Martine Fokkens, though, it’s the maximum age that’s cause for concern.

The 70-year-old twins are believed to be Amsterdam’s oldest prostitutes, the Sun reports. After more than 50 years on the job — and approximately 355,000 men between them — they’ve decided to retire.

Practically speaking, the two have been retired for some years now, a factor of both advancing arthritis and an admitted difficulty in attracting new clients. But Martine still has a regular, and "I couldn’t give him up," she told The Inquisitr. "He’s been coming to me for so long like it’s like going to church on a Sunday.”

In Amsterdam, in the the future, only prostitutes 23 years and above will be allowed to work. Thus the Amsterdam governors want to combat forced prostitution

We believe this to be a mistake, the law requires only 21 years. The Freudian slip is probably a sign of things to come.

In the movie, a prostitute suggests that only women over 25 have the maturity to assess the consequences of working in this job. The main witness in the movie is an emotionally unstable girl that willingly obliged her lover’s command to work as a prostitute when 15. Instead of taking care of psychological problems of such infatuated girls, government decides to curb the free will of voting age adults.

Amsterdam increases legal age for prostitutes

Amsterdam is to become the first municipality in the Netherlands to officially increase the legal age for prostitutes to work in the profession. The minimum age will be raised from 18 to 21 years old. Increasing the legal age is part of a set of measures designed to tackle abuse in the prostitution industry and strengthen the position of prostitutes. Prostitution operators will soon be obliged to demonstrate that they provide adequate supervision and window brothels will close at night, just like other businesses in the city.

The decision to increase the legal age has been taken following research indicating that younger women in the industry are more frequently victims of abuse, such as forced prostitution and other forms of (financial) exploitation. The nature of the work also demands a certain level of maturity. Several companies already enforce a minimum age of their own accord but this will now be extended to cover all prostitution companies in Amsterdam.

Prostitution operators will be required to take more responsibility for tackling abuse in the industry. They will also be obliged to draft a business plan in which they outline how they protect the rights of the prostitutes, prevent human trafficking and ensure that the prostitutes are in good health and have a safe working environment. Prostitution operators will have to arrange an intake consultation with prostitutes looking to work at the company to ensure that they possess suitable levels of independence to enter the industry.

For example, prostitution operators will have to test the language competence of applicants. It is vitally important that prostitutes are able to make themselves understood so that they understand what their rights and obligations are, but also so that they can communicate effectively with social workers and those supervising the industry. Prostitutes also need to be able to communicate with customers in order to reach clear agreements and need to have adequate language skills in order to suitably handle emergencies.

It is hoped that the raising of the legal age will help stem these abuses based on evidence that younger sex workers are more susceptible to coercion. It is also thought that a certain amount of maturity is required for participation in the industry.
