One thing is now crystal clear: Danai Gurira is definitely not Michonne.

The actress, who plays the sword-master in the hit AMC series "The Walking Dead," ditches her dreadlocks in a new photo shoot for Byrdie, and the results are nothing short of stunning.

Wearing bright colours and bold looks, the 36-year-old beauty looks miles away from the "The Walking Dead's" apocalyptic landscape, where characters sport dark, monochrome and military green hues.

In real life, however, the Zimbabwean-American actress favours eye-catching looks. "Me and colour work well together," she tells Byrdie. The proof lies in the photo shoot, which shows Danai rocking a gorgeous red-and-white Marni coat, a Sacai multi-colour wrap skirt paired with a plaid blouse and a drool-worthy Thakoon colour-blocked dress.

But the real star of the photo shoot is her skin, which she stays looks healthy because of one thing: drinking copious amounts of water.

"It hit me in my 30s," Danai says of drinking water. "Jennifer Aniston says it all the time. I was like, 'What is she talking about?' and then finally I saw it. It makes a difference if you drank water or if you didn’t."

There is one beauty trick the actress hasn't mastered yet. "I do tend to try a little eye, but I’m terrible at it," she says. "I can swing a sword, but running this tiny little thing across the eyelid is a little different for me."
