OO How Much Carbon Can We Safely Emit?
The Amount Just Got Halved - If the world hopes to avoid the most catastrophic effects of climate change, humanity must emit less than half the carbon dioxide than previously thought in coming years, a new study shows.

Takeaways, under business as usual:

intense heat waves that only occur 1 in 20 years will be annual events by 2075

many more of the young, the old, and the poor will die

WHY WE SHOULD ACT NOW: RISING RISKS

Daily Climate Change: Global Map of Unusual Temperatures, Mar 8, 2016

How unusual has the weather been? No one event is "caused" by climate change, but global warming, which is predicted to increase unusual, extreme weather, is having a daily effect on weather, worldwide.

Looking above at recent temperature anomalies, much of the US and the waters surrounding it are experiencing warmer than normal temperatures, and the eastern Pacific warm spot persists. El Nino driven moisture is bringing rain to California, but is far too little to budge California's agricultural areas out of exceptional drought. Aquifers in California have been significantly depleted, decreasing the state's ability to respond to future long term droughts.

Much of the areas surrounding the North Pole are experiencing much warmer than normal temperatures - not good news for our Arctic thermal shield of ice. Hotter than usual temperatures continue to dominate human habitats.
