NEWBURGH – The Newburgh Enlarged City School District is seeking community feedback as part of an effort to evaluate what its schools do well and where they should improve.

Beginning Monday, September 12, 2016, the district launched its fourth annual Diagnostic Tool for School and District Effectiveness (DTSDE) Survey. All parents, teachers, and students in grades 4–12 are invited to participate. Parents who have children in any grade level are encouraged to participate.

“We want to continue using community input to drive positive change in our district,” explained Superintendent of Schools Dr. Roberto Padilla. “This survey gives our community a critical role in improving our service to all students, employees, and families.”

Mandated for Focus Schools by the New York State Department of Education, the survey asks about leadership and capacity, school leader practices and decisions, curriculum development and support, teacher practices and decisions, student social and emotional developmental health, and family and community engagement.

There are also additional questions about the district’s special education and Title I programs.

Here are the details:

The survey is open from Monday, September 12 until Wednesday, September 28.

Parents can access the survey at www.newburghschools.org .

Paper surveys are available upon request at each of the district’s schools.

Kiosks will be available at each district school during the open houses, Sept. 12–28.

The parent survey is available in both English and Spanish.

Students will participate in school, using their student IDs for access.

The survey is being administered by independent research and communications firm K12 Insight, an approved New York survey vendor.

All responses are strictly confidential. K12 Insight’s final reports will include only the overall findings.
