Homemade Microdermabrasion Recipes

1. Sugar Scrub

Mix up one cup white sugar with one tablespoon fresh lemon juice and half cup olive oil. Stir well and add a few drops of lavender oil. Leave it for a second and stir in a little baking soda. Give it a good swirl with a spoon and store in a mason jar. When you want to use, take 3 drops on your palm and mix with a few drops of water to make a paste. Massage the paste on your face with your fingertips and rinse after sometime, remember not to over scrub.

2. Baking Soda – Honey Scrub

Mix one tablespoon baking soda with half tablespoon organic honey to make a paste. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to the paste. Rinse your face with hot water and work the paste on your face in circular motion for at least 3 to 4 minutes. Sponge down with cold water and pat dry. Give a rose water spritz to complete the treatment.

3. Yogurt – Blueberry Mask

Crush one cup blueberries in a processor and blend the juice with 4 tablespoons plain yogurt. Spread the mixture on your skin and massage with circular motion. Let it dry for 20 minutes and then wash down using cold water. Apply any moisturizer to avoid sun sensitivity.

4. Brown Sugar – Cocoa Powder Scrub

Blend one cup brown sugar with one tablespoon cocoa powder and one cup olive oil. Whisk the ingredients well to avoid lumps. Store this in a jar and use whenever needed. Apply some mixture onto your face, scrub gently and wash using lukewarm water. You can also substitute cocoa powder and olive oil with coconut milk.

5. Oatmeal – Pineapple Mask

Take oats powder, say one tablespoon and combine it with one tablespoon fresh pineapple juice to make a paste. Massage your face and neckline with the paste for 4 minutes and rinse it off with lukewarm water. Apply a little rose water or coconut milk to reduce sensitivity and keep the skin hydrated.

6. Baking Soda And Calendula

Combine together a tsp of baking soda and calendula infusion, a drop of lavender and helichrysum essential oils. Using your fingertips, massage this paste gently on your neck and face. Avoid the area around your eyes. Applying light pressure massage in circular motion for few minutes. Rinse with tepid water and pat dry. Follow with a good toner and moisturizer.

7. Nutmeg And Lactic Acid

Take a spoon of nutmeg powder and add one tbsp. of organic milk (hemp milk or coconut milk would be great). Massage the paste gently on your face and neck. The tiny granules in the paste will work deep and exfoliate your skin removing scars and uneven skin tone. This microdermabrasion recipe is perfect for those with acne.

8. Cornmeal and Lemon Juice

If you are sensitive to baking soda, then this mask is ideal for you. Cornmeal will not only gently exfoliate your skin, but it also has healthy nutrients in it. Lemon juice will gently lift your scars and is a natural astringent. Mix a tbsp. of cornmeal and a tsp of lemon juice to make a paste. Massage this paste in circular motion on your face and neck.
