I want to start to learn guitar for a second hobby because i love to listen to music. Is there a website online that is free or any free tutorials online? I have been thinking about this for a few days and i really want to start useing a guitar.

I’ve learned how to play guitar just by song choice. I use ultimate guitar tabs online because it’s free and easy. YouTube guitar tutorials are also very helpful! You could also look at local music shops for lessons.

How to teach my self to play guitar?

I have been playing for almost a year now and i feel like im not progressing at all and all i do is look up how to play songs on youtube and i cant afford lessonsany suggestions or sites that give free online lessons and im also getting frustrated

PenneyMorey answers:

Hi Gman,

i feel your frustration, when I started playing guitar now 15 years ago, it took more than 1.5year to actually start to make out something similar to music from my guitar. I did it all by myself and didn’t want to take lessons by the way.

After i figured out how important in reality is to have someone to guide you through the process. I launched a new business in which we provide music lessons via skype, it’s a very nice experience if you try it. If you want you can visit us at our site and go through our teachers and see if there’s someone you like it.

Feel free to visit us at: www.music-lesson-experience.com

Cheers

Where can I find free internet guitar lessons?

So i just got this new acoustic Guitar and I have no Idea to play it. I have no idea what fingerings are or what Chords to play or anything. I really have no prior knowledge of guitars. I just know how to strum it pretty much. I would really like to know how to play it would be a good skill to learn and I could impress alot of people I like music and it would sound really nice. If there is a link or something or video tutorials on all the chords and how to do everything it would be much appreciated. Thank You!

Convincing my parents to buy me a guitar and to let me take lessons?

I want to take guitar lessons really badly but I know when I ask my mom will say “some day you can” or “we dont have the money right now for a guitar and lessons” what can I do to try and convince them to let me?

PenneyMorey answers:

Buy a guitar used from your local music shop, eBay, or craiglist. There are lots of good deals to be found and you can probably get an okay beginner guitar for around $100 or maybe a little less if you’re lucky. As far as lessons there are a lot of good places to learn online that are free, so you can start off with those to show your parents you’re serious, then ask them to take private lessons later on down the road.

Carol asks…

How do I get better at guitar?

I’ve been playing guitar for 5 months now and I was wondering how I could just get overall better, quicker, other than just more practice. My dad showed me a chord and a scale and I look online for guitar tabs and tutorials every now and then, but for the most part I just self taught my self. I’m 13 and I practice an hour a day on week days, and up to 2 hours on weekends. Is that good? How can I get better?

PenneyMorey answers:

I only skimmed the other answers so I apologize if I missed anybody, but, I didn’t notice anybody suggest music theory. Music Theory is Essential for getting better at any instrument. Anybody can hit the right notes at the right time but if you really want to know what you are doing you need to learn why you are hitting those notes, what notes you are hitting, and what makes some fit together better than others. I know it’s tedious and mind numbing but have to ask yourself, do you want to play guitar or do you want to play music? Because playing guitar doesn’t make you a musician. Playing music makes you a musician, and you need to study music to play music..

Look up Stone Dragon online, they are good free online lessons which include a good bit of theory and also a lot of good things to practice.

Maria asks…

What is the best method to learn how to play accoustic guitar?

I am a complete novice… just bought a guitar and researching how to learn it. Any advice would be great. I’ve heard of many different learning methods… don’t know which makes it easiest.

PenneyMorey answers:

Learning the Guitar

You need a course of instruction.

The best way is with a private teacher

2nd would be class lessons

3rd regularly get together with other guitar players

or if you absolutely will or can not do the above, Buy a book on how to play the guitar and follow it religiously.

Last would be to find some free online lessons and skip around in them doing what YOU think you want to do next.

Guitar is one of the world’s most popular instruments.

It is easy to take with you.

It has a sound that people like.

It can be use in almost any type of music.

Simple music is easily played after only a few days or weeks.

You can continue to learn new and challenging music forever.
