Robert asks…

Why do girls wear short-shorts?

In the last couple of years, loads of women and girls have started wearing shorts, and famous people like Taylor Swift have been doing it too- see picture:

Do they think this makes them look more attractive? Do people find it attractive? It just looks to be like their flaunting their bodies. It’s terrible.

PercyChacon answers:

Taylor Swift is an inbred skank who would never look good no matter what she wore.

Jenny asks…

Thomas asks…

What do I wear to the Juno’s 2013?

I have a ticket to the Juno awards and I’m wondering what to wear.

Do I dress fancy or Causal? Dress or Jeans?

&&Is there a red carpet for the Juno’s?

PercyChacon answers:

Well, it’s a pretty big awards show I think. And there is definitely a red carpet. So something more fancy than casual would be the right thing. But it’s about music, so dress like you would at a nice club or a rock show. Maybe a cute sequinned dress and heels. That’s my opinion anyway. Here’s a few ideas that I think would be cute.

Paul asks…

Is there anything wrong with my job approach/resume?

So I’ve applied to something in the 50+ range of jobs over the past two months, including a local Firehouse Subs, Lowes Hardware, Harris Teeter, IHOP, Penn Station, Jimmy Johns, every Walmart in a 15 mile radius, Target, Dominos Pizza, GNC, and a variety of other local places, and their apparent reception has been pretty bleak so far. Only two have set up interviews after I’ve followed up in person; one turned me down outright and I’m still waiting for the other to contact my references. I’m basically at the point where I’ve applied at every remotely interesting job within 15 minutes of me.

I’d really appreciate help. My question is in three parts: is there some red flag that I don’t notice in my resume, are there any tips for impressing a boss, and I’m guessing that my resume is lacking at this point — where should I look to find a job, etc. to build it up?

Here is my resume:

PercyChacon answers:

Here’s my tip on the resume: the most important information is, by far, your work experience. They are hiring you to be an employee, not run cross country, so make the relevant information stand out. I would suggest putting the Work Experience section at the top, right below Education. I’d probably recommend removing all of the high school awards and activities altogether.

You also really need to beef up the details on each of your previous jobs. There should probably be at least 2-3 bullet points per job and they should not just be a list of the job duties you did there. Talk about things that you accomplished (did you come up with a better way to do some process that saved time/money? Did you get an award for best customer service? Did you take the initiative to start your own grass cutting service?).

Also, don’t say “ongoing”, put dates. Otherwise, it looks like you just started all of these activities last week and are trying to hide that fact (unless, of course, you did just start last week).

Regarding your other question about how to impress a boss:

- show up early for your interview and be professionally dressed (usually a suit but at least business attire)

- practice your answers to common interview questions in advance so that you will be able to answer easily, without getting nervous (ideally, practice with another person listening and giving feedback, or record yourself)

- be prepared with examples of work you have actually done (for example, if they ask about your approach to customer service, anyone can say “I believe in going the extra mile to serve a customer”. It’s a far more effective answer if you have a story about one of the times that you actually went the extra mile.)

- remember who interviewed you and follow up with an email to let them know that you appreciated their time and are still interested in the position

Chris asks…

what are important directioner/one direction dates?

for example what day were they formed and when are all of their birthdays?
