Family Date Night — It’s a family affair for Valentine’s! Kids get free dessert at JerryBuilt Homegrown Burgers February 14 with purchase of Kid Built basket. Mom and dad can enjoy 1/2-price wine. Valid all day February 14. Two locations: 3501 W. Holcolmbe and in The Woodlands.

Pucker up for a freebie — Snag a free dessert at Ruggles Green Saturday, February 14, with a kiss and daily special purchase. Dine-in only. Hope you don’t mind a little PDA!

Free fun

Picnic in the park — Pack your favorite picnic for the 2nd annual Valentine’s date night in Katy. The evening features live acoustic guitar, free outdoor movie, plus free dessert for the first 50 couples from Fish City Grill. Blended (PG-13) is the movie on the big screen featuring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. This is located at Willow Fork Drainage District’s Central Green Park in Katy, 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.

Craft a Valentine’s Day Calling Card — Just like the Texas settlers, kids can learn to write with a quill pen and natural ink to create Calling Cards for a special Valentine. This free event is Saturday, February 14, 1 pm – 3 pm. Located on Redbud Hill Homestead at Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center in Humble.

Watch Herbie the Love Bug — Spend the evening together as a family at 2nd Saturday at The Depot in Tomball — with lots of free fun. The free monthly event features activities, games, entertainment and a movie at dark. In honor of Valentine’s Day, catch the free outdoor screening of Herbie the Love Bug! Located at 221 S. Elm in Tomball.

Adopt a free pet — Houston Humane Society is waiving adoption fees on select pets through February 15 (some are listed as half-price). Find your perfect sweetie for free! Located at 14700 Almeda.

Browse a free museum — Did you know 10 Houston museums are free every day? Go explore Saturday, February 14, and find the perfect match for your personality and interests. Choose from the following free admission museums:

Engage with gardening for kids — Kids will love a free gardening class the 2nd Saturday each month at Urban Harvest Farmers Market. The February class is about soil, called “Shake, Rattle, and Role”. Two class times: 9:30 – 10 am and 10:30 – 11 am. This is located at 3000 Richmond.

Get heart healthy — Take advantage of a free health screening at Sam’s Club open to the public February 14, 11 am – 3 pm. The screenings, valued at $150, include:
