There’s never a dull moment in Houston. Here are 7 options for free fun in Houston February 2-6 before planning your free and cheap weekend!



Monday (2/2) —Catch a free movie screening of Kinky Boots at Sundance Cinemas to kick off TUTS’ production beginning February 10. The movie begins at 7 pm, with first come, first serve seating. Free parking is available in the Theater District Parking Garage with validation or reimbursement. Located at 510 Texas Avenue downtown.

Tuesday (2/3) — Pre-school kids love Storytime at FUNdamentally Toys, 9:30 am, in Rice Village. The weekly, 45-minute gathering features a lively reading of children’s books, plus related arts, crafts, music, and physical activities. Online RSVPs are encouraged but not required. Located at 2401 Rice Blvd.

Tuesday (2/3) — Visit Houston Zoo free the first Tuesday each month 2 pm to 6 pm. Last entry is at 5 pm. The Houston Zoo is located at 6200 Hermann Park Drive. This is a great way to save since adult admission is $15 and kids 2-11 are $11.

Tuesday (2/3) — The Houston Civic Symphony is presenting a free concert Tuesday, 7 pm, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. The program features Haydn’s Symphony No. 60, Guilmant’s Symphony No. 1, and Scheherade by Rimsky-Korsakov. The church is located at 717 Sage.

Wednesday (2/4) — Enjoy a free concert downtown over lunch Wednesday at Da Camera’s A Little Day Music beginning at noon. The concert features Da Camera Young Artists and special guests playing a variety of classic music. Folks who attend are welcome to bring a lunch. Located in the foyer at Wortham Theater Center, 500 Texas Ave.

Thursday (2/5) — Seven museums are free each Thursday, while a number are free every day. {The 8th museum, The Weather Museum, is relocating and not open now.}

Children’s Museum of Houston — 5 pm – 8 pm

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston — 10 am – 9 pm

The Health Museum — 2 pm – 5 pm

Houston Museum of African American Culture — 6 pm – 8 pm

Buffalo Soldiers National Museum — 1 pm – 5 pm

Holocaust Museum Houston — 2 pm – 5 pm

Friday (2/6) — Folks who want to practice English can join a free library event, Conversation Circles, Friday, 1 pm – 2 pm, at Cinco Ranch Branch Library. This is offered several Fridays a month. Visitors can practice their conversation skills in a relaxed setting. Located at 2620 Commercial Center Blvd. in Katy.
