Parents who enjoy the safety of large spaces often prefer taking their kids to retail trick-or-treating — i.e., concentrated stores that hand out candy to kids in costume. Houston has a few options — both indoors and out — to let your little ones enjoy their candy overload. Inside spots are a bonus for wet weather!

Inside–

** Bass Pro Shops Halloween: Kids are invited to trick-or-treat at Bass Pro Shops October 31 and participate in a costume parade. Each participant will also receive a glow in the dark bucket. Bass Pro Shops has two Houston area locations in Katy and Pearland.

** Greenspoint Mall: Greenspoint Mall is putting on the fun for kids at Mall-O-Ween,October 31, 6 pm – 8 pm. The evening features store-to-store trick-or-treating, live music, costume contest, fortune telling, face painting, and balloon art. First 1,000 kids will get a free trick-or-treat bag with treats. The costume contest, located in the Food Court beginning at 7 pm, is for babies to adult. Greenspoint Mall is located at I-45 and Greens Road.

** Katy Mills Mall: On Halloween, kids can enjoy the Kidgits Boo Bash and Trick-or-Treating at Katy Mills Mall. The event is 5 pm – 7 pm. Head to Guest Services for a list of participating stores. Located at 5000 Katy Mills Circle in Katy.

** San Jacinto Mall: Folks in Baytown can head to Mall-O-Ween October 31, at San Jacinto Mall for store-to-store trick-or-treating (2 pm – 3:30 pm) and a costume contest at 4 pm. Contestants must bring a canned good to registration (2 pm to 3:30 pm) in the Food Court. San Jacinto Mall is located at I-10 at Garth Road in Baytown, Texas.

** Children’s Museum of Houston: {This isn’t retail but lots of indoor Halloween fun October 31!} Families can enjoy Moe’s Monster Mash Bash featuring all kinds of spooky fun. Trick-or-treating is all day (10 am – 8 pm) plus make Glow in the Dark Slime, participate in the Thriller dance and catch a flick in the Monster Drive-in at 7 pm. $10 admission per person. Located at 1500 Binz.

Outside:

* CityCentre: CityCentre offers Halloween Trick-or-Treat October 31, 5 pm – 7 pm, at Houston’s outdoor shopping district. Pick up a map in the plaza for participating retailers. Alvin Gee Photography will be on site to capture the memory with a 5? x 7? photo (in exchange for a $10 donation to Texas Children’s Hospital). Located at 800 Town and Country Blvd. The event is rain or shine!

** Pearland Town Square: Enjoy Trick or Treat on Our Street October 31 with free retail trick-or-treating 5 pm – 7 pm, at Pearland Town Square, while supplies last. Kids must be in costume.

** Houston Premium Outlets: Families in Cypress will enjoy Halloween fun again with Houston Premium Outlet’s Trick-or-Treat Off the Streets October 31, 5 pm – 7 pm. Enjoy retail trick-or-treating for kids 13 and under plus a performance by Steppin Time Performing Arts. Located at 29300 Hempstead Rd. in Cypress.

** Outlets at Conroe: Enjoy Halloween fun October 31 with Halloween Trick or Treating at Outlets at Conroe. Kids can enjoy trick or treating from 4 pm – 6 pm at the Outlet shops from participating merchants. Free cupcakes from Cuppie Cakes and Sweets while supplies last. Located at 1111 League Line Road in Conroe.

** Tanger Outlet: Don’t miss the Outlet’s annual Trick-or-Treating October 30. Kids 12 and under are invited to Trick-or-Treat on the Tanger Street 5 pm – 7 pm. {NOTE: this is October 30 not October 31!} Located at 5885 Gulf Freeway in Texas City.
