Praise the noodle gods

It’s long been rumored that popular Austin noodle spot Ramen Tatsu-ya would be making its way to Houston, and now we’ve finally got confirmation that it’s on the way.

The Houston Chronicle reports that Ramen Tatsu-Ya will open its first Space City outpost at 1722 California in Montrose. Back in July, Eater reported that Ramen Tatsu-ya was looking for employees to staff a Houston location, essentially cementing its arrival, but owner Tatsu Aikawa refused to confirm the expansion.

For the unfamiliar, Ramen Tatsu-ya is one of Austin’s most beloved ramen restaurants, taking home Eater Austin’s So Hot Right Now award in 2012. Known for its creamy tonkotsu and chicken shoyu broths, Ramen Tatsu-ya is a decidedly strong addition to the city’s growing ramen scene.

The Houston location will join two Austin outposts, and is currently under construction. No official opening date has yet been announced, but you can look for Ramen Tatsu-ya to open its doors “sometime this winter.”
