Condotta earns Guardian of Small Business Award from NFIB

Rep. Cary Condotta was recently presented the Guardian of Small Business Award from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) for his voting record in the Washington State Legislature for the 2013-14 legislative sessions. Patrick Connor, State Director of NFIB, praised Condotta for his commitment to protecting and supporting small businesses in Washington state.

“We know that small businesses are the key to our economic recovery at the state level,” said Connor. “As a small-business owner for over thirty years Representative Condotta not only understands the challenges facing employers, but what can be done to address them in the Legislature. He is a strong supporter of sound policies that will lead to job creation and improve our state’s business climate.”

To qualify for the award, state lawmakers must score at least 80 percent on the group’s key votes over a two-year period. Condotta scored 100 percent.

“We need more legislators who have signed paychecks and understand the daily operations and the challenges facing small businesses,” said Condotta, R-East Wenatchee. “Lawmakers need to get behind the comprehensive solutions on the table that will allow businesses to create an environment in our state that allows employers to be successful, expand and hire.”

According to NFIB, small businesses represent about 98 percent of all employers and employ more than 53 percent of the private-sector labor force in Washington. In 2010, small businesses numbered 546,885.

The 2014 legislative session ended on March 13. The 2015 legislative session will begin on Jan. 12.
