By day, they head up the Montreal label Kannibalen Records, and by night, electronic producers Patrick Barry, Marc-André Chagnon and Julien Maranda pair a heavy electro sound—mashing together techno, hip-hop and classic rock—with post-apocalyptic visuals as Black Tiger Sex Machine. Their debut full-length, Welcome to Our Church, arrived this past winter. “Implementing every style from dubstep and electro to drum and bass and even hip-hop, the album is a sporadic exhibition of the group’s mastery of their respective art,” according to the Huffington Post. “Saturated from front to back with hard-hitting bass and classically influenced instrumentation, the work stands on its own as a true showcase of BTSM’s abilities.” And while the album is terrific, Black Tiger Sex Machine (above, fusing “Funeral March” with “The Craving”) are best known for their live shows, which combine tracks, loops, drums, samples and synths and feature each performer in a helmet. Do yourself a favor and see them tomorrow at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Kai Wachi opens.
