Casual Dining – the multi-award winning trade event for the UK’s casual dining sector, has released its exhibitor show highlights for 2017.
Returning to the Business Design Centre in London next month, on 22-23 February, visiting buyers will be among the first to see a host of new products, catering equipment and services from 200 leading suppliers.
The following is just a taste of what’s new at Casual Dining 2017:
Whitby Seafoods is reinvigorating scampi with its new ancient grains crumb. Being previewed for the first time at the show, it’s made using 100% British caught wild langoustine. These little lobsters are coated with red and white quinoa, white and brown linseed, amaranth seeds and golden breadcrumbs for a crisp bite and textured appearance (stand G15).
Bannisters’ Farm is launching a new range of Baked Sweet Potatoes and Sweet Potato Skins at the show. Ready baked and frozen to lock in the flavour, they bring convenience and portion control and offer a versatile and nutritious menu option (stand M340).
New York Bakery is sampling Croll for the first time at the show. Combining the best features of a croissant and a roll, Croll is a new hybrid carrier with the lightness of a croissant, but a larger surface area and a less flaky texture. Also previewing its new Out of Home Cheese Bagel, which delivers cheese in the topping as well as in the bagel itself (stand U203).
World Beers is sampling Bifuel, a new sparkling wine blonde beer created from the combination of Vermentino grape and the Birradamare Breweries moderately hopped wort. In Italy this beer is already becoming a popular choice as an aperitif (served in 750ml bottles), as an alternative to wine or prosecco (stand U221).
Monin UK is launching its new Le Fruit de Monin Rhubarb purée. Sharp on the tongue and lusciously pink on the eye it provides the nostalgic taste of a day in the countryside. A new flavour developed by Monin’s innovation team in France (stand M236).
Pip Organic is introducing its Kids Fruity Waters in two flavours: mango, orange and apple; and blackcurrant, raspberry and apple. Made with organically-grown fruit and spring water, with no added sugar, sweeteners, preservatives, flavourings, concentrates or nasties; they provide children with the benefits of one of their 5-a-day and rich hydration (stand M160).
The latest addition to its breakfast range, Lamb Weston’s new mini products now include Hash Brown Minis, which come in a variety of shapes and sizes, from rounds to potato puffs. Also showcasing: Sweet Potato CrissCuts, and Sweet Potato Shoestring Fries (stand M401).
New brand Fire Grain is launching Freekeh at the show. Produced and harvested in the authentic way, Freekeh is an ancient grain packed with protein, calcium and fibre bringing health benefits and a smoky taste to modern consumers worldwide. Available in Galilee Mix, Mediterranean Style, Mexican Style, and Natural Style (stand U108).
JDM Food Group is launching Just Add gourmet condiments in 28ml tubes, offering a quirky alternative to the standard table sauce sachets. Available in: Deli Mustard, Cola BBQ Sauce, Spiced Brown Sauce, and Rich Sundried Tomato Ketchup (stand G1).
Europastry is launching three Sourdough Deli Subs of varying lengths, and three mini sourdough burger buns at the show. They are clean label and made with olive oil, and 100% natural ingredients (stand U208).
Mom’s Fabulous Hot Dogs is re-launching its Rosti Dog range (now all gluten-free), and its new Breakfast Rosti Dog with added mushroom. Also offering free on loan equipment solutions, branded packaging, and bespoke POS for every style of service (stand A205).
Beacon Foods is introducing Juice-It. Pre-washed, chopped and portion packed fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs ready to be juiced. Available in three flavours: Green Detox (apples, courgette, pears, fennel, lime); Beet Boost (apples, carrot, beetroot, lemon, ginger); and Energize & Revive (apples, carrot, pears, pineapple, cucumber, ginger, lemon), (stand M544).
DiSotto Foods is launching its luxurious and creamy, sweet, pink candy floss ice cream. It’s free from artificial colours and flavours (stand M222).
Wing Yip is showcasing Nature’s Charm range of dairy, soy and gluten free coconut based products. New to the UK, products include Coconut Milk, Evaporated Coconut Milk and Caramel Coconut Sauce (stand U114).
Radnor Hills is launching a new range of Tetra Prisma juices. Its 125ml, 200ml and 250ml eight side packs appeal to children as it’s easy to grip with small hands. Flavours include orange juice, apple juice, tropical juice, and still orange (stand G7).
Spirits by Design is promoting its Crazy Monday Gin, a Belgian gin presented in a 500ml white bottle. Ingredients include juniper, coriander, angelica root, cardamom, orris root and lime zest (stand AS-1).
Pipers Crisps is promoting its first new flavour for four years – Atlas Mountains Wild Thyme & Rosemary. Gluten free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans, Wild Thyme & Rosemary crisps (available in 40g pack size and 150g sharing bags) can be offered as a stand-alone snack or as an accompaniment to sandwiches, soups, pasta, salads or a ploughman’s lunch (stand M101).
BRF Foodservice is showcasing its new Foodservice platform, with a complete range of poultry products. The wide product portfolio includes natural, coated and marinated solutions that ensures customers have a complete assortment through Sadia, Perdix and Golden Foods brands (stand M149).
Debic is showcasing the new Culinaire Original, a full-dairy culinary cream that has been specifically developed for professional cooking applications. Designed to avoid curdling and separation, it has a fast thickening speed and a freeze-thaw resistance. Available in highly convenient one and two litre bottles (stand U111).
Major International is showcasing its new Korean Mari Base. This en-vogue marinade is a rich Korean blend, including fiery chilli, garlic, ginger and the toasted notes of sesame oil. It’s gluten free and suitable for vegans (stand M116).
MDC Foods is offering a new approach to the increasingly important vegetable category. It’s range of meal components include filled pasta, rice and risotto to grilled vegetables, macaroni cheese and innovative grains and pulses (stand M530).
Martin Mathew & Co is exhibiting its 10kg Bag in Box range of chopped and crushed tomatoes. Equivalent to 4 x 2.5kg tins, they are packaging waste friendly and more time efficient (stand M532).
Aulds Delicious Desserts is showcasing its new range of tray bakes. New additions include Raspberry & Coconut Slice, White Chocolate & Toffee Macadamia Blondie, and popular gluten free solutions such as Gluten Free Festive Cheesecake, and Glitzy Orange Truffle Torte. Also showcasing: Belgian Chocolate Cheesecake, Luscious Lemon Cheesecake, and Rockin’ Raspberry Swirl Pie (stand M125).
Mediterranean vegetable specialist L’Aquila has developed a new selection of free-from, vegan pestos; including Sorriso seeded red pesto and Sorriso basil pesto with tofu. With bold, aromatic flavours – it’s a healthy option that doesn’t leave consumers longing for the traditional counterpart (stand M123).
McCain Foodservices’ top street food chefs will be demonstrating how operators can stay ahead with new menu signatures Staycrisp Thin Cut Skin-on Fries and Staycrisp Thin Cut Fries, available in 4 x 2.27kg cases (stand G5).
Following a 2017 rebrand, Freedom Brewery is showcasing its portfolio of beers, including Freedom Organic Helles Lager, at the show. This pale balanced lager uses a clean malt canvas to showcase Hallertau Tradition hops. Organic and vegan, it’s made with a sterile micro filter instead of using Isinglass, which is a fish by-product (stand UB3).
Donna Italia is showcasing its authentic, 100% natural, Italian stone baked, part-baked, frozen pizza. The 9″ and 12″ pizzas have no preservatives or additives, and can be prepared in three minutes. Pizza ovens are also available, provided with no contract and no financial outlay (stand U207).
Lucozade Ribena Suntory recently launched Ribena Minis, which contain real fruit juice and no added sugar. Available in Brilliant Blackcurrant and Amazing Apple & Mango, these 250ml re-sealable bottles are ideal for parents with children when eating out (stand A308).
Bar foods is promoting its Moroccan Lamb One-Pot. It’s made with sumac lamb, giant couscous, Moroccan sauce and topped with diced feta and pitta bread chips. Taking only two minutes to heat in a Merrychef oven, this is an ideal food-to-go dish for quick service operators (stand M227).
Roberts Bakery’s Bakery Thins is a new foodservice range of hot sandwich carriers developed for aspiring menus. From only 120 calories per Bakery Thin, they offer an ideal solution for today’s health conscious consumer. They will be demonstrating recommended recipes at the show: hot and ready-to-eat in three minutes (stand U211).
Prir is exhibiting its premium ‘beauty boosting vitamin drinks’ aimed at health and well-being conscious consumers. Made in UK, the drinks are suitable for vegans, and contains less than 5% sugar. Available in three flavours: Orange & Passion Fruit, Blackcurrant, and Apricot & Elderflower (stand A413).
KFF is promoting its new flavours for the casual dining market including: Teriyaki Chicken, Chipotle Chicken, Vegetarian Fiery Three Bean, and Caribbean Beef. These ready-made fillings are perfect for sandwiches, salads, jacket potatoes and more (sand U122).
H.J Heinz Foods UK is promoting its 57 Sauces range. These back-of-house sauces, in an easy squeeze 875ml format, includes on-trend flavours like Baconnaise, Sticky Korean, Gherkin Relish, Firecracker, Grill-House and Flamin Cajun (stand G22).
Brewery Meteor is showcasing CLASSIC’27, the Original French Pilsner since 1927. Its delicate bitterness and floral notes come from the aromatic Alsatian (Strisselspalt) and Czech (Saaz) hops. Accolades include: Gold medal in ‘Concours General Agricole Paris 2016’; and Miami 2016 Silver Medal in Brussels Beer Challenge 2016 (stand UB1).
New gluten free additions to Lutosa’s coated Xtra Crispy range include super thin skinny fries (5.5mm cut size) and hand-cut style skin-on Belgian fries. Also showcasing: savoury Pom Churros – a twist on the Spanish classic, made using Bintje potatoes mashed with a light seasoning (stand M228).
Marine Ices is promoting Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice-cream. A distinctive chocolate ice cream, with dark and white chocolate pieces and chocolate fudge chunks. Also showcasing: Amarena Gelato, traditional gelato generously laced with Amarena cherries from Italy (stand M231).
Equipment, Services & Technology
Stokes Tea and Coffee is introducing its Ovopur Water Filter at the show. This gravity fed water filter removes chemicals and pollutants, whilst leaving healthy minerals. Constructed of high quality porcelain, this award winning innovative design is produced by Aquaovo, and provides a great environmental solution to the problems caused by plastic bottled water (stand A206).
To mark the launch of its new approach to training, UCC Coffee UK & Ireland will be delivering hands on sessions exploring the most important aspects of coffee at the show. Also showcasing: the new Black&White4c from Thermoplan – the most compact bean-to-cup machine yet; and its Great Taste award-winning ThreeSixty˚ Rainforest blend (stand M102).
Pizza Equipment’s Next Phase technology is a breakthrough innovation in pizza delivery. The bags feature self-charging technology, which means no electricity usage and no cords. A six-layer insulation system, complete with nanotech energy absorbing foam, a reflective energy barrier, a heating element and the one-way moisture ventilation, ensures minimal heat loss (stand G4).
Catering management software solution Saffron Central, by Fretwell-Downing Hospitality, has been designed specifically for multi-outlet retail caterers operating from a Central Production Unit. Saffron Central allows each unit to order from the CPU, where orders are then compiled into picking lists, prepared and dispatched to each unit, with all stock movements and costs tracked within the system (stand M506).
3S POS – Hospitality EPOS is launching its new online ordering system for casual dining and quick service restaurants. This commission free ordering system has multisite management and 3S POS EPOS, plus kitchen integration for a streamlined operation. Its 100% responsive design is fully integrated with a website and white labelled to brand requirements (stand M510).
Kafoodle has recently launched an innovative labelling feature within their menu-management software. The new system works seamlessly with their current functionality and, unlike current labelling services, requires only a standard printer for printing; saving time, expense and the need for specialist devices (stand U402).
Meiko UK is offering free installation and a bonus 10% discount on its new UPster undercounter and pass-through dish and glasswashers at the show (with 24-month warranty). Exit and entry tables, baskets, and detergents are also available (stand U109).
VITO Cooking Oil Filtration is promoting VITO XS at the show, with live demonstrations and special offers. This award-winning mobile, vacuum, cooking oil filter system is suitable for both solid and liquid fats, and has a 40ltr capacity, suitable for freestanding fryers and fish and chip shop ranges. Empty, filter and cleaned in under five minutes at cooking oil temperature (stand M341).
MAX Bookings from EPOS specialist GS Systems is an easy to use, advanced online table reservations tool. Operating on a Windows platform, users can download and subscribe to MAX Bookings online and start taking table reservations immediately. Extensive added-value functionality includes Facebook and social media integration, wait-list management, email and SMS text communications and business reporting (stand M247).
Rational UK’s SelfCookingCenter XS offers full power, intelligence and efficiency despite its minimal dimensions of 55.5cm deep, 65.5cm wide and 56.7cm high. The unit covers 95% of all the usual cooking appliances; it can grill, steam, pan-fry, gratinate and bake all food gently (stand M212).
Yumpingo is a new food focused feedback service producing NPS scoring. By using analytics designed to help restaurants plan, optimise and promote their menu, these insights enable kitchens to make better decisions on the food served to guests. Based on customer feedback collected at unprecedented scale, it can help restaurants to optimise dishes, improve customer retention and increase profitability (stand A419).
Adande Refrigeration is exhibiting the A+ Fridge. It combines food quality benefits of patented ‘Hold the Cold’ technology with Hydrocarbon refrigerant, making it the only A+ professional refrigerator in Europe. Offering 46% more storage volume than its nearest comparable footprint competitor, it is modular, ergonomically efficient, sustainable, easy-to-clean, robust and reliable too (stand M433).
Ascentia FSE is showcasing its F1 High speed oven. It can produce a fresh dough stone-baked pizza in as little as 90 seconds. It requires no extraction, has a small footprint and will operate on just a 13 amp plug, with no microwaves (stand M536).
Aloha Kitchen from NFS Technology Group is designed to speed up service, reduce waste and promote consistently great food production – as well as making accurate forecasts and receiving useful management reports to boost efficiency (stand M438).
Robot-Coupe UK is promoting its Robot Cook professional cooking cutter blender. This kitchen assistant for chefs emulsifies, grinds, mixes, chops, blends and kneads. It has adjustable heating capacity up to 140°C accurate to the nearest degree, and a large capacity bowl for producing sufficient quantities for professional needs (stand M104).
Bleep UK’s TS-915, an EPoS touchscreen till used in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, is designed to cope with every aspect and demand of the dining experience. It has an optional rear seven-inch video display and features two removable front panels which can accommodate an omni-directional laser scanner or an internal RFID reader/writer. Available in white or matte black (stand M139).
