Even in an age when Londoners have access to all kinds of different foods from all across the globe, sometimes only the best of British will do. Thankfully, London’s newest opening has got you covered; opening in the lovely and leafy Belsize Park on 26th November, Juniper Tree will be the first stop for anyone living in or visiting the capital looking for a modern kitchen that prepares the best in simple British cooking with the best of local, organic ingredients.

Juniper Tree loves British farming and prides itself on using excellent quality organic ingredients, with a selection of British suppliers including The Rhug Estate; a committed organic farm with the highest standards of organic practices, ethics, traceability and quality.

Founder of Juniper Tree, Andy Kent took his inspiration for the restaurant after observing how the rise of the organic movement had come together with a reborn pride in both British agriculture and British cooking. After moving to Belsize Park and falling in love with the neighbourhood, Andy and his wife Cherry decided to open Juniper Tree with the aim of creating a “restaurant inspired by small, humble, passionate kitchens which can be found all over the country, and their love for the best British ingredients”.

At the forefront of Juniper Tree is Kirsty Landles, who joins the team after a lengthy career of managing restaurants around London. Kirsty has been managing restaurants since 2008 and brings a diverse knowledge of leadership to ensure Juniper Tree delivers an excellent standard of service at all times.

The man behind the menu is none other than the highly rated Vincent Millet, who will be working as the Head Chef at Juniper Tree. Vincent has a wealth of experience working in some of London’s top restaurants including working at the Red Lion in Highgate, and his menu will focus on organic British culinary classics. Starters include staples such as Game Terrine with Pear and Saffron Chutney and toasted Sourdough and West Mersea Native Oysters with a Shallot Cabernet Sauvignon dressing as well as one-of-a-kind delicacies like Steamed Global Artichoke with a soft herb dressing.

The mains are as you would expect from somewhere so quintessentially British; mouth-wateringly hearty and what you would hope to find after a long country walk in a traditional country pub. Diners can expect classics such as Roasted Chicken Breast with Pork, Sage and Onion Stuffing, Roasted Potato’s, Chard Baby Jam and Braised Peas alongside Shin of Beef and Chestnut Mushroom Organic Ale Pie with Swede and Carrot Mash, Green Beans and Shallot and Lemon Zest as well as a perfectly executed vegan Wild Mushroom Risotto with Parmesan crisps…And what would a Great British dinner be without something sweet for after? Medjool Date Stick Toffee Pudding, Chocolate Fondant and a whole selection of British cheeses are sure to cap off any meal in style.

Juniper Tree will seat around sixty diners and is situated on two floors in a typically pleasant Belsize Park street. The ground floor interiors will be fresh, natural & un-stylised. Neutral oak coloured floors and bar, light grey paint and exposed brickwork and colourful art will make it feel both comfortable and modern. Meanwhile, the basement below will be sexier and more intimate with dark oak wood colours on the floor and the kitchen pass, kitchen seating and even an illuminated wine cage in antiqued brass.

So if you’re looking to treat your family, friends – or even just yourself – to the best of British dining then Juniper Tree is the place for you.
