Leading decorative coatings manufacturer Armourcoat used two key international trade events to launch new products and finishes into the recovering interiors market.
The Hospitality Design Exposition and Conference (HD Expo) celebrated a landmark year in Las Vegas. Held for the second year at Mandalay Bay Convention Centre, the show – the leader in design for the hospitality industry – marked a 15% jump in attendance from 2013. The show remains the largest event in the industry, with more than 900 exhibitors on the show floor.
Back for its second year, May Design Series comprised of five design districts – The Furniture Show, DX, Lighting (including Arc), Decor and Kitchen + Bathroom. Close to 400 exhibitors joined the ever-strengthening line-up at May Design Series, many using the UK’s definitive furnishings fair as a platform to launch their latest collections. The show recorded a 1% increase on visitor numbers from 2013.
Armourcoat used the shows to launch a new polished plaster finish called Istria. Named after the characteristic building stone of Venice, Istria is made from a combination of slaked lime, recycled marble powder and special additives. Available in a contemporary range of 72 colours, the Istria finish is full of ingrained surface movement and creates a matt or honed stone appearance. Tonal variation and surface movement within the finish complements other natural materials including wood, stone and fabric.
The company also launched a new collection of finished under the Duncan MacKellar Signature Collection. Created by Armourcoat’s Creative Director and company founder, the finishes reflect Duncan’s unique creativity and passion, with an expert understanding of decorative plaster techniques. The launch also commemorates the pinnacle of the Armourcoat business at its 30 year anniversary. The Duncan MacKellar Signature Collection comprises of four new polished plaster finishes: Biellese, Calabresi, Nebrodi, Volsini – named after mountains in Italy – inspired by an Italian heritage and Duncan’s interpretation of natural forms and surface effects. These artisan finishes represent the highest level of product mastery, redefining the technique and underlining Armourcoat’s lead role in the industry. Creating rich, opulent and luxurious interiors, each polished plaster finish is presented in a unique colour hand-selected by Duncan to complement the design.
