Louise Bolton, the hotel’s General Manager since 2004, has been promoted to Hotel Director, whilst Norbert Stump has joined The Coniston as General Manager, and Simon Farrimond has been appointed Food & Beverage Manager.

The appointments come as The Coniston aims to cement its place amongst Yorkshire’s finest hotels, on the back of a stream of awards, including being Highly Commended in Welcome to Yorkshire’s “Hotel of the Year” Award, and also in Yorkshire Life’s “Hotel of the Year” Award.

According to The Coniston Hotel’s owner, Michael Bannister, “these three appointments represent a watershed for The Coniston Hotel, and will enable us to push on in our quest to provide the best food, service and hospitality to the people of North Yorkshire and further beyond”.

Louise Bolton, Hotel Director

Louise Bolton is the driving force behind the success of the four-star Coniston Hotel near Skipton, North Yorkshire, and has worked for the owners, Michael and Ethne Bannister, since joining the hotel as a Trainee Receptionist in 1998. General Manager for the last ten years, Louise has been promoted to Hotel Director, a position in which she will help to set the strategic direction and business plans of the hotel.

Louise has been instrumental in the successful growth and performance of The Coniston, and in its many awards, including being Highly Commended in the Welcome to Yorkshire White Rose Awards as “Hotel of the Year” last year. She is an inspirational leader of a 90- strong team across all departments, the Kitchen, Housekeeping, Restaurant, Reception, and Corporate, Weddings & Events.

Norbert Stump, General Manager

With a CV that reads like a “Who’s Who” of fine overseas hotels, Norbert Stump arrives at The Coniston Hotel & Country Estate in the role of General Manager, at an important stage  in the hotel’s development. Taking over the day-to-day running of the hotel operations, Norbert inherits a finely-tuned business which looks after over 100 guests and serves an average of 500 customers a day.

Norbert’s career in hospitality management has seen him work as the Maitre D’ at the

world-famous Raffles Hotel, Singapore, Food & Beverage Manager at The Ambassador Hotel, Cape Town, Food & Beverage Manager at Rubens at the Palace and the 5-star Hotel 41 in London, and other hotel management roles in Germany and Croatia.  His most recent appointment was as Deputy General Manager at The Merton Hotel & Suites in Jersey, where he was responsible for the day-to-day operation of this busy resort hotel.

Simon Farrimond, Food and Beverage Manager

Simon Farrimond has worked in hotel management in Yorkshire and Lancashire for many years, including appointments as Operations Director at the Seafood Pub Company’s four inns in Lancashire, Front of House Manager at the Angel at Hetton, Deputy General Manager at the Rendezvous Hotel, Skipton and Head Chef of the White Bull at Ribchester. Whilst at The Angel, Simon won the prestigious “Front of House Manager of the Year” Award in The Morning Advertiser’s Top Gastropubs Awards.

Simon’s role at The Coniston Hotel will be to oversee the hotel’s food and beverage outlets, including Macleod’s Restaurant and Bar, and The Huntsman’s Experience, the all-day dining area which overlooks the hotel’s 24-acre lake.  He will work closely with Head Chef Chris Oakden to create new menus and work towards a coveted AA Rosette for the restaurant.
