After months of searching and thousands of votes, the best places to eat breakfast across the country have been revealed by the Best Breakfast Awards.

UK’s Best Breakfast

Tavern Co Restaurant in Liverpool walked away with the ultimate prize as their Full English was named the UK’s Best Breakfast, scooping the most public votes.

The Best Breakfast Awards highlight the range and quality of breakfasts being served by UK eateries. They took place as part of Farmhouse Breakfast Week (Sunday 26 January – Saturday 1 February 2014), a campaign organised on behalf of UK cereal farmers and producers, to celebrate the importance of breakfast.

The Best Breakfast Awards was open to food venues of all types, from cafes through to pubs, restaurants, hotels, food vans and B&B’s, with category options of hot, cold and most innovative breakfast. Venues could enter one dish per category. Winners were decided by a public vote.

Best Hot Breakfast + Overall Award

Tavern Co in Liverpool, won Best Hot Breakfast for their Full English and also walked away with the overall award:

Two traditional handmade Lincolnshire sausages, thick cut back bacon, a fried egg, peppered tomato, Bury black pudding, sautéed mushrooms and baked beans together with extra thick sliced toast made with locally baked bread.

Most Innovative Breakfast

Tried & True cafe in Putney, London won Most Innovative Breakfast for their BBQ Pulled Pork Benedict:

Pulled pork in a home-made smoky barbecue sauce on top of a jalapeño and cheddar cornbread. The dish is finished off with a couple of poached eggs, chilli butter and spring onions.

Best Cold Breakfast

Café Alf Resco in Dartmouth, Devon won Best Cold Breakfast for their Alf’s Granola:

Homemade and packed full of jumbo oats, dried fruit, nuts, seeds & local honey, served with Devon-made yoghurts.

All three venues will be visited during Farmhouse Breakfast Week by organisers HGCA, who will be joined at Tavern Co by TV Chef Dean Edwards, who is supporting Farmhouse Breakfast Week.
